And the rewards are starting to come from the greenhouse work this winter.

PNWmountaingirl.. that Blaney's Blue is just stunning. No wonder your fairy is swirling in delight. Beautiful shot!

neofarmer is that purple broccolli I see? How interesting.

RJ..you better watch out with geranium. It could grab you on your way out of the green house and we would never hear from you again! Be Careful! LOL!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

RJ..... I love that geranium, thanks for sharing. Any plant that rules a greenhouse is awesome. That begonia is really pretty too.

Neo.... I love all your pictures. Can I make guesses at what's what?

Post #6507963 acer pseudoplatanus brilliantissimum
Post #6507943 meconopsis paniculata

Sharon, that blaneys blue is very pretty!
your maple and cherry go very well together too.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Neo, I forgot to mention. OMG..... I so wouldn't know what to do with myself if I ever got my little yard to looking like that!!! Mine's a mess right now. Weeds, erosion issues, dug plants. just a mess!!! The front is ok. The back is.... well, I'm glad it's in the back. :-s

North Lakewood, WA(Zone 8b)

Wow nice photos to all of you. That begonia is amazing!

Poulsbo, WA

Rarejem, I had no idea a geranium could get that big!

BeaHive, Yep, it's purple broccoli!

Redchic, I had no idea, but your are right. I did a google search and my mystery tree is acer pseudoplatanus brilliantissimum. And now I know! Meconopsis paniculata is from Heidi's, maybe it will bloom this year, but honestly I like the plant the most, so will probably pinch off any buds.

Also, I did not put up a shot of my yard, so you must have been enjoying PNWMountainGirl's shot.

Since no one guessed, Post #6507947 is one of the tall spikes that come up on the rhubarb. The spikes are already as tall as I am!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Neo.... Wow, would've never have thought Rhubarb! we used to have two huge plants of it when I was growing up, but I couldn't stand the stuff. (Now, I don't mind it so much) So, it makes sense that I didn't remember it.
Oh...I'm so glad that you have a name for your tree now. I think that they are just gorgeous trees this time of year. Maybe you can put your pretty picture in plant files?!?! It's a really good example of the ridges and spring color. I had to double check, but I'm fairly certain that it was you who said that that you were glad that I clarified where I was walking! Sorry, I should made my response clearer!

I love sauteed rhubarb.

Does anyone know what this little darling is? I dug a clump out of the garden at my sons house. He hasn't a clue what anything is, however his yard is really nicely landscaped by a previous owner who owned a native plant nursery. So I'm thinking maybe it is a native, it seems to form nice little clumps without spreading, there are no runners.

Ok, so you are on to me now. Here is another vegie flower. I have a lot of wintered over kale, etc., that I am letting go to seed. The flowers are simple but pretty.

I can't remember the name of this plant but I do have it written down somewhere. I really like it's form. The little tubular flowers are cute too.

Thistle..that is a cool flower. If you find the name I would love to know it. It's great!

This shooting star is getting humongus! Wish the fence was a different color for a better contrast!

Love this grouping of different greenery. It reminds me of a collage.

This is starting to bloom and I can't locate the tag. Hopefully someone will ID it for me ...pretty please!

Two of my garden faries came out to see the Peach Melba Tulips.

I was just working in this front bed this weekend and these were all still in bud. I was so surprised to see these blooms this evening when the rain finally took a break!

This oriental poppy plant sure grew since last year. The plant is about a foot high and wide and the buds on these are the size of walnuts. Looking forward to the blooms soon.

Neo, I knew your pics were making me hungry, but never would have guessed the rhubarb! They were harvesting it in the fields in the valley yesterday afternoon when I took a late lunch break to go to Watson's. Pretty impressive to see the stalks that they come up with! How do you saute' rhubarb? I absolutely LOVE rhubarb pie, and rhubarb sauce...never had it saute'd before though.

Mauryhill, Very cute little plant! Maybe Saxifraga? No matter...a wonderful addition to your garden!

Beahive, So far I have excaped serious damaged from my geranium...it's favorite trick is to yank things out of my hand as I am coming and going into the greenhouse. It also likes to pull my hair clip out when I try to get potting soil (it presides over the potting soil bin!). I love your pics as usual, but the greenery one is unbelieveable! That SO needs to be blown up and framed!

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

OOps Bea...forgot...I think that your blue flower may be a Camassia. :)

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Thanks RJ..be careful that he doesn't trip you also!!

Thanks for the ID. I do recall buying a camassia...now to find where the marker is hiding. I have tried to be good since joining DG to mark my plants
so I can share the names. Darn things just vanish. Sure would like to know where they go!!

I thought poppys were just annuals. Those are beautiful, and I agree about the image of greenery. So Fresh!

I had always thought that poppies were annuals, too, but I have three from Mary that are evergreen (even this winter). They are huge, haven't bloomed yet (I've had them a couple of years), but one has a bud. They are supposed to be deep red, so I'm looking forward to seeing them.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

I love all of your groupings Bea! very pretty.

nice pics Thistle.

These pansies were very sad tonight. Somethings "bugging" them!

How to avoid the swine flu..don't do this!

Pic sent to me in an e-mail. Photographer unknown! Darling photo!

OTH, might help you build your immunity. As I understand it, all flus generally come from birds and swine.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

That's my impression too.

Cute photo.

Dan those slugs!!!

I wonder if kissing a pig has the same results as kissing a frog?

Some day my prince will come...la..la.la...la. I'll pass on either method!

lol.... I guess that we may find out if we ever find out who the little girl is! lol.

a few more pics from this last weekend. I can't remember if I already posted this one or not.

Those pics are beautiful. That maple is just stunning! I have forget me nots taking over my yard. As soon as we have a dry day I must get out there and pull some.

another one

Thanks.... the plants definitely deserve all the credit though. I pull my forget me nots as well!. That's my brunnera jack frost. It's the only one of all of these that lives at my place!! But none of the pictures with the leaves in them turned out all that well.

Great shots, everyone.

I wish my cammasia bloomed for a longer period of time. I do like them, though.

I do like the 'green' pic. What variety!

(Judi)Portland, OR

What wonderful photographers we have here! I don't take many pics because I stink at it, and am too busy too learn more.

Try this with rhubarb -
Put cut pieces in a saucepan with halved FRESH apricots, a little water, a sugar to taste, and half of a split vanilla bean. Simmer for a few minutes until rhubarb is tender - takes only a few minutes. Enjoy as a fruit dish or over ice-cream. So yummy.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

MMMM sounds it! I planted a rhubarb plant last year so am looking forward to some.

Poulsbo, WA

Thanks BeaHive, now that I see the leaves, I know the difference between the forget me nots that must fall from heaven, and the Jack Frost. I gotta have some of that!

I love black foliage against lime green foliage. Also deep burgundy against gold and bright greens. My overall property has several large projects going, removing entired areas of lawn, etc., so not very pretty, but these sweet little areas keep me going.
