Who's Got May Flowers?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

This is 'Arizona Sun' Blanket Flower a winner for me. It was blooming last fall until the first freeze and almost beat the daffodills blooms this year.

This is one of my favorite shrubs, the Oak Leaf Hydrangea. It is just now putting out the white plumes of blossums. They turn pink later then brown in the fall with the leaves a reddish bronze. Unfortunately they loose their leaves in winter.

This is my French Hollyhock, lovely shades of pink. The plant was small last year, but this year it bounded out of the gate. It is as wide as it is tall right now.

I don't have enough of the Purple Larkspur this year. It adds the purfect punch of purple color. Need to let it seed this year for sure.

This of course is the Purple Coneflower, but a very pretty dark one, and a bee to boot.

The Bulbine I have sits in full sun near the street and shows off a lot. But I almost lost my whole stand last year when I didn't mulch it for the winter. Glad some returned.

This was my first Easter Lily of the year. It bloomed on Mother's Day; but now there are about 10 blooms in the group!

Not sure of the variety but this Dark Pink Spirea is a beauty.

This is a plant that I am drawing a blank on. I need to put it out for an id. I do love it and each year I tell myself I need to find out what that is.

I will end with a couple shots of the beds.

I love the wide variety of plants, gardeners and gardens.

Right now, some of the skullcaps are beginning to bloom. Not showy but delightfully delicate.

The color on the S. altissima always looks washed out in photos. Cuphea in the background.

Scutellaria ~ Texas rose a low grower but a long summer bloomer.

My favorite skullcap ~ S. longifolia. The hummers love its' tropical flavor.

BTW, Loonie ~ your Agastache has beautiful foliage compared to mine ~ makes mine look anemic! LOL

Beautiful pics everyone! Sheila, I love your bed shots.

Thanks Stephanie. I plan on blowing those up to poster size and sending them to my MIL in GA. She is almost blind but loves flowers. I thought she could at least see the color that way.

Pod...I only have one little Skullcap for now (not yet blooming);but yours are lovely.

Sheila, I'm thinking of doing something similar for my dad. I'm thinking of getting him a digital picture frame and uploading tons of our gardening and flower pics for him as he's always asking how the garden is growing. He lives in San Antonio, so it's not like he can just run over here and check it out. I'll also include pics of our kitties and house and other shots for him. I think he'll love it!

Thanks for the show. I have seen the larkspur in gardens around here and they are outstanding.Do you throw the seeds out in the fall? Good to know that 'Arizona Sun' Blanket Flower blooms for such a long time. When I first started gardening here I tried one type and was disappointed. Saw some at TexasLizzy's yesterday and as she says...they provide a nice "pop"

Stephanie.... The pic frames are nice. Plus, you can always send him a new SD card every now and then to give him another group of shots.

Hi Anna.... I did sow seeds last fall, but the ones that drop straight from the plant do ok too. My problem has been that I don't leave them long enought to self-seed, so this year I will do that. The AS blanket flower hasn't spread like I would have hoped but it is definately a bloomer. I had a different one that didn't work out well at first too.

Who was it that wanted honeysuckle? I have Gold Flame honeysuckle. It's mostly pink. I'll try to find a picture.

Ok, here's a few from my yard. This Atom glad. I didn't know they would get this tall. They were not this tall last year. That's Mm. Alfred behind it.

This is a bloomin' mystery. I thought these were supposed to bloom in late summer. Oh well, I like it anyway.

I call this one Mama's rose because my Mom planted it in front of our house in Bellaire probably in the early 60's. When my Dad sold the house in 1999 I asked him to dig it up and bring it to me. It's still very small because I've been trying to find the perfect place for it. This is it's third time for transplanting and I think I finally got it right. It's doubled in size since March when I planted it.

Night Raider, another favorite daylily. I like that color combo I guess. But I wish it would multiply.

Trinidad Sage. Amazing plant. Blooms most of the time, which is why I usually forget to take its picture

My cactus orchid almost blooming. Does almost count? I don't remember which color this one is. I thought this was the white one but those buds sure don't look like they are going to be white flowers. I counted 9 buds!
