Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

very pretty. Isn't spring wonderful.
suzq232, the lady in red is not from me, I gave you red salvia greggi.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Beautiful photos! My Coreopsis "Jethro Tull" is the star of the flowerbeds right now. I need to get a picture.

Carla

Grapevine, TX(Zone 8a)

I've been thinking about getting coreopsis "Jethro Tull", as a big fan of the band.... :)

Roanoke, TX

Here are my Siberian (?) or Louisiana (?) irises. My Maine Coon, Franco, loves to look out the window at the garden. I'll try and post that.

Not sure what kind of Clematis I have here. I think I ordered it a couple of years ago from Wayside, but can't remember. I actually never expected it too live and now look!

Beautiful yard, friscoflora

Driftwood, TX(Zone 8b)

I agree, Friscoflora - wonderful yard.

Cyndyhood - that's a gorgeous clematis. Could it be a Ken Donson or an H. F. Young?

Frisco, TX

Thanks lrwells and mocatmom!

Stephanie....I really like the color of that San Antonio Firecracker DL. I need to put that one on my gotta have list.

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Dennis, you'll love the "Jethro Tull." I've never had any luck with any kind of Coreopsis in the past, but JT took right off for me. I guess the flowers appreciate that I know every note of Aqualung! :-)

Carla

(Lynn) Paris, TX(Zone 7b)

LOL, Loonie1, I think of Aqualung every time my Jethro Tull blooms!

Roanoke, TX

mocatmom--H.F. Young does ring a bell. I'll check that out. Never heard of Ken so I know that isn't it. Thanks for the feedback.

Finally have some May flowers...

Calla Lilies, "Purple sensation,"...that is according to the label. They don't look as purple as they're supposed to according to the picture on the package...but others in the Plant Files seem to agree, and mine look more purple than theirs. So maybe it needs something to make it more purple?

I was told this is Texas Vervain.

This part of the flowerbed has "the blues" -- Mealy Blue Sage and Salvia Garanitica Argentine Skies. The Cassia alata is newly-planted but already showing signs of being very happy.

I'm jealous on the beautiful Rose Campion. Mine is in its' second year and no hint of a bloom yet. Very pretty. What is the intense purple bloom in that photo?

CarlolnTx, a lot of my callas seem to bear very little resemblance to the pictures in the book. Possibly they get too much or too little sun. I've just been glad that so many come back here in 7b. This is some of mine from last year, just have leaves so far this year.

Here is my clematis

My pomegranate is loaded with blooms this year..every day more and more open.

Beautiful clematis, Earthling!

About the color of plants, I've learned that so much depends on growing conditions, quality of soil, fertilization, temperatures, and picture enhancements that I pretty much don't worry about it. I'm happy the things bloom! LOL

(Lynn) Paris, TX(Zone 7b)

Beautiful, Earthling!

San Antonio, TX

My first try at hollyhocks here in San Antonio, the tallest got to around 15 feet & so heavy it was difficult to stake.

Our roses never stopped blooming all winter despite hard pruning and have just exploded with flowers after the recent rain. Fairy and Iceberg

This is the beginning of my addiction to clemetis, I put one in last year and now have 8 spread around garden. I'm amazed at how big this flower was.

Podster, the deep purple bloom is from the Butterfly Bush (behind the Rose Campion).

Earthling, my dwarf Pomegranate is in bud now, too. When the buds open, the hummingbirds love the blooms.

Carla

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Love the blooms. Earthling, that is a nice clem combo. Know the names?
These are two hardy performers, Red Cascade and Jackmanii

Anna, does your Sunny Border Blue Veronica die back during the winter and then come back? I think that's what I've got.

Thumbnail by stephanietx
Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes it does. Your plant may be a veronica but the leaves are not crinkled like Sunny Border and the flower head arrangements are different(don't know no nomenclature)
No doubt you will enjoy it. Looks lovely.

Denton, TX(Zone 8a)

I think this is mealy blue sage. Anyone?

Thumbnail by CarloInTX
Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, it is very pretty.

Denton, TX(Zone 8a)

The mealy cup sage is not nearly as hardy as my Salvia greggii. It dies back much further in winter and seems to take a long time to recover, and seems to take more of a beating in mid-summer. I'd like to see them grow a bit more to fill in the spot they are in. As it is now, one of them is so small, I think someone might run over it with the mower if it weren't me doing the mowing.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Carlo, I put white plastic forks (tines down, handle up) in the ground to mark my baby plants. That way, I know where to be careful when I'm walking around.
