Before I started this shift, I was doing 8-5. I would need to drop DS off at daycare, go to work, pick him up, then have a little time before putting them to bed. So, I volunteered for 10-7 . . . I would have more time with the kid in the morning, and a smaller window at night. That was perfect until last August, when DS started Kindergarten. Now, I have to get up at 6, put him on the bus at 7, then I have time before work. I've already spoken to my manager to get me back to 8-5. She has to work on that, 'cause of the coverage issue. I've even posted for other positions to get a better schedule. Since I was told today that I didn't get the one I interviewed for on Friday, I may just start looking outside the company . . .

Lynn
I am having an ok day but still can't find the money..LOL I did find a mouse and five babies when we went to the golf course in my sons golf bag... So guess what ??? I have a mouse and five babies in my soil plastic tub ... now with holes in it for them to get air... Only me.... I could not leave them for snakes to eat....
Hugs,
Susan
Susan, you are so funny..........only you would rescue a mouse and five babies so the snakes won't eat them. What compassion you have (seriously)
Well it would have been different if she had her nest and was in the wild but I could not just put her in the woods to fend for herself... I will let her go when her and her babies can survive in the wild... NOT IN MY HOUSE...LOLOL She is getting a headache from hitting the top of the lid...LOLOL Her babies are soooooo cute.... Ok I am going to bed with the cats so they don't eat the mice...LOLOL
Hugs,
Susan
I love all animals but would kill something that was going to hurt me...LOL
Susan, you sound a lot like me! I think that is so cute and so compassionate of you to save the little mouse family! I too love animals. I'm afraid of some, like SNAKES (Yikes!) but would not kill one on purpose, unless it's of the poisonous variety! Whenever I find a good snake in the yard, I have my hubby take it to the wooded lot across the street.
I love birds and have them nesting all over the yard ... I have about eight (down from 14) feeders in the yard. We now have a pair of Downy Woodpeckers nesting in a camphor tree in the backyard. The mama doesn't seem to mind me around the tree at all but Papa flits about and chatters like crazy when I go anywhere near that tree. This evening I found two baby Blue Jays sitting on a branch right near the woodpecker nest cavity. Mama Jay was right there watching them. They flutter from branch to branch and one slid down a branch at one point ... funny! It sure is a hard time of year for mama and papa birds ... trying to feed, nurture and protect their babies. We have hawks flying around and a few days ago saw one get a baby mockingbird ... with adult mocking birds and jays trying to chase it off.
Last year we had a mocking bird nest in a Hibiscus bush in the front yard. One day there were a pair of beautiful Swallow Tail Kites hunting and we think they got two of the babies cause all of a sudden two were gone from the nest. The one baby left was so pitiful looking, but so cute. The next day I saw the Kites swooping around again and I ran out to the yard, flailing my arms and yelling "Get out of here, Get out of here!" I hadn't noticed the UPS truck parked across the street delivering a package to a neighbor. I think those two delivery guys thought I was nuts but I'm sure they got a good laugh from it!
Lin,
Well I have to admit that since we have no outside cats this year we have allot more birds and birds nesting... I to have a ton of feeders around and will never get tired of seeing the golden finches they are so beautiful. We have a very BIG wood pecker and I forget its name but it is very big...Red headed and beautiful... We have flocks of turkey's that come around...Then we get this lone one that comes and I want to ask it why are you alone? LOLOL
OK anyone who thinks I am a loon for saving this Mom and her kids look at this picture and tell me how you could think I could let her just sit there with no protection... She made her a new nest in the night. I took what was left of her old one and put it in the tub with her... The inside cats are not to happy but I told them to behave as I got them out of the pound and the mouse deserves the same chance.
Hugs,
Susan
Oh my goodness ... that is the cutest picture! Bless your heart for saving that little mama and her babies! How many babies does she have and what are you feeding the mama?
Oh, your very large woodpecker is probably the Pileated: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Pileated_Woodpecker/id They are found year round in a lot of the U.S. Really neat looking birds, we see them occasionally but mostly we see the smaller ones like the little Downy Woodpecker that is nesting in the backyard tree and the Red Bellied Woodpecker.

Lin,
That is the wood pecker we have... They are BIG.. We have at least two pairs of them and we also have the smaller ones....
When my son took the top of his golf clubs off, it is a water proof cover they flopped onto the basket of the golf cart and is why I had to take her she stayed there with her 5 babies attached to her tit and was scared to death but she did not leave them.... I have a water cap in there for her and so far she has had oatmeal, whold wheat bread and bird millit..LOL That sounds like a rounded diet to me...LOLOL I will run to the store later to get her a rat block or see what they have for mice... I don't know how she does it as these 5 babies are almost the size of her...LOL Here is another picture...
Hugs,
Susan
The picture is precious Susan!
Lynn
Aww, turtlechi the mouse pics are precious! I had pet mice as a kid, even had a female with "wayward" ways...she would escape from her cage, go out galavanting with all the house mice, then come back to her cage to eat and sleep. Of course it was only a matter of time before she got herself in a family way....
All of you have such beautiful violets, I lost most of mine when I moved to such a dark shady house, but would like to try growing under lights again.
Those variegated pink leaved one's are breathtaking - where did you buy them, esp Goldleaf's Dean's Bunny Blue and Wrangler's Swinging Blues...they are gorgeous!
Just my humble opinion, but go to Cedar Creek Violets...........they have a good selection of leaves and send healthy leaves out............
Someone else who might even have a plant is PJs on ebay..........
