Me too!!
Here I go!!
OMG. I'm not clowning. Did you indeed lose power? How can that be at a time like this? I do really hope they will be alright. Especially after all the goofing around. Warm thoughts and prayers. Haystack
Thanks Hay.
Yes, we lost power for 6 hours. Don't know yet what the damage was.
Fill us in any news yet??
I just got online.. I'm so worried about these babiez! I do hope they are okay.. Let us know as soon as possible please.
Oh no, 6 hours without power. I hope they are all OK. I wouldn't have any fingernails left....
No news yet... but it's just day 20. I'd really rather they wait until tomorrow to start pipping, and zipping anytime after 3. LOL I just want to be there!!
This is just torture.. LOL
I thought yesterday was the due date.. I've got too much air upstairs sometimes..
Mother Bird reporting for Melissa..
Reports of peeping coming from eggs. No pips yet. Power out in the house again.. Moved bator to the barn where the power is okay.
Keep your fingers crossed for Melissa's booboo babiez!
Specail Agent of the Chick Inspection Division reporting for duty. I am sending happy hatching vibes your way Melissa. I am sorry about the power outage but I would be more concerned with temps to high. Did you cover the bator to keep the heat in? Not sure if it would do much but always worth a try. Cant wait for your update. Lower temps can cause them to delay a bit in hatch so dont freak out yet. Ithink you will be just fine. {{HUGS}}
Hey guys, sorry, we're having electrical issues, and a whole bunch of other "issues" piled up on top.
No pips yet, but they were sure cheeping at me last night in the shell. I was amazed. I'm not sure when everything will be fixed at home, hopefully they won't have the power off too long replacing what they need to replace.
I can access email on my cell phone, so ZZ is holding my hand long distance. :)
Thanks for all the happy thoughts! I can sure use them!!!
MotherBird Reporting for Melissa..
We have pippage! I repeat.. We have Pippage!
3 pips on board!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is Darling! Such a trooper! Black Copper eggs first time out with power failure? I am glad I didn't know what they were yet.. I was nervous enough!
He is adorable. Hope a lot more join him soon. Black Copper Marans - you go girl. Everyone will be envious.
My my what lovely eggs you have my dear.....
Yummy chocolate!
Hey Melissa!!! WhadZup? I feel like i've been in the waiting room 48 hrs, waiting for sixtuplets to arrrive. I'm beat and just need some rest. Haystack
Six is about right... 5 are out and 2 are zipping, or trying to. Hopes are not high for this to be a very successful hatch. Next one, I'm using the turner, the bator is going in the barn, and I'm going to forget it's there for about 3 weeks. ;)
LOL That is the best way! Like if you fret over a favorite plant, it will surely die.. hide it from yourself and it will take off like gangbusters!
It wasn't your fault.. the power went out.. that is not something you could have prepared for.. At least you got some to hatch!
I....think I need one....Copper Maran?
LOL All the ones that Hatched were Copper Maran's at least... and from 2 different "lines"
Tough little chicks!
Hey Taynor's!! WE did it, what a great partnership we made.eh.
Melissa, how many eggs were in the bator? Haystack
If I write it down it will depress me.
So far less than 10% hatch. :(((((
Those eggs are beautiful.
I do love the Marans!!! Congrats Melissa. :D
On my Maran eggs I got a 16% hatch. :( The first one that popped out of his shell came from one line, I got one blue maran, and the rest of them came from the same batch. So that batch was a 22% the other 2 really bad. :( None of my Cuckoo Marans hatchted, or any of the wellsummers. Our mutt eggs aren't quite due yet since they went in later.
But Melissa, this was a first hatch, turned by hand, and with power problems! You really are lucky to get anything at all out of this.. Count your blessings. ;) I know it was a huge loss, but it was a huge gamble.. at least it wasn't' a total loss.
I'm happy I have them ZZ, I figured it up, and even at 7 birds, I got them cheaper than if I had bought day olds. :) The 8th one just brings that total cost per bird lower. ;) Next hatch will be better. :) After seeing them, and watching their little personalities already, I'm in love with them. :) and you can't put a price on that! ;)

I believe that would be SHE is beautiful.. LOL She is a living doll.. look at that cute lil face!!
MELISSA_OHIO Did you ever get an answer to the ebay question?I looked at it and it sounds great if it really works.
No, I don't think anyone has used it.
Melissa!!! Congrats! Considering everything, you did great. If you just look at the hatch percentage, that might look lousy, but when you look at the overall experience and factor all the negatives?? You really did good. If it was just about money we'd all be loosers at times. Your efforts are going to pay off down the road, plus look at all those who were following your episode. Look at all the great friends you have made, Your girls are going to do you proud. Have a great day.
Thanks Haystack, and I agree, it was worth the friends! :) I'm going to go again as soon as the bator is empty.... next time will be better!!
I have a pip on one of the eggs from our hens.... and my blue girl, I think is going to be a splash. She sticks out like crazy with her dark brothers and sisters. :)
Awwwwww how cute! I love splash!
2nd lil Serama egg pipped!!
