DAILY PICS - VOL. #209

Marlton, NJ

Rose, Beautiful pics of your 2 special birds!

Very cute Fruit!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

That's great Fruit! Can't wait to see them.

I may be wrong, but it looks like that nest is dangerously close to the hole. Check sialis.org and see, I think you'll want to clean out the nest after they fledge so Mom can start a new nest!

Here is the first Woodpecker baby. The one pic I got of him being fed was too blurry.

Mom Red-Bellied Woodpecker flew up into the Florida Privet to grab a few berries.

I got another NEW yard bird!!! I just took the pics which are awful but it was taken through the window at 70 feet away. The camera was protesting like crazy but I had to get some shots.

I think this is a Brown Thrasher; if anyone thinks otherwise you can let me know. 2 pics

Yay Brown Thrasher. They have the most beautiful songs. Oddly, this is the first year that I had them actually visit the platform feeder! The past two years I could barely get a picture!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Good grief...this thread has gone so fast I think you are all on something!! LOL! Thanks for the start Linth and those gorgeous shots of your Chickadee and Bluebird!

Congratulations to everyone who has new birds and old new ones too!! This is just about as excited as an old hen like me can get!!

Well done everyone!

OMG were you guys busy today.... love them all!!!

Clinton, MD(Zone 7a)

Is it unusual for Brown Thrashers to come to feeders? Nice shots of the Brown Thrashers

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Beautiful orioles Rose.

Mrs. Ed your thrasher is very handsome!

Since the Blue Jays wouldn't leave the corn cobs on the holders I had kind of quite using them. But I have now found a new use for them!!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

That a nice one of the crow Nanny.
I'm jealous of all your Oriole guys and gals. I put up my feeder last week, hoping to see one. Tump, tump, tump, still waiting, tumping some more. And got my Hummingbird feeder up as well. Now feet and fingers going.
Great job on the posting today. congratulation to everyone with babies and new birds.

A couple of Hooded Merganser at a pond today.

I love the Brown Thrashers. I enjoyed watching them "thrash" the leaves around, looking for bugs. I haven't seen one in several years, though.

Norman, OK

I had Brown Thrashers that nested in a bush near my feeders for years at my old house. They seldom visited the feeders, but the male was clearly the cock of the walk out there. Sometimes he would send the ground feeders scurrying just to show them. They are insect hunting son of a guns.

I don't have any in the yard, but some nearby.

I particularly enjoyed the Oriole pics recently. My old eyes are still sharper than most and I think I got a glimpse of one flying down by the ponds yesterday. I was about 100 yards away, so can't say for sure.

Looks like we might be starting another thread this a.m.

Great shots evrybody!!

Pelle congrats on the BT in your yard!!

A little off topic, but does anyone else find that York ad pop-up as annoying as I do? I use Firefox and have my pop-up blocker on, but it seems to get through. It covers up the 'skip to new' link.

Marlton, NJ

Hi Red, In your Dave's preferences, do you have ad's turned off?

Marlton, NJ

Click on "My Info" at top of page, then "manage My Preferences" then click "ads" on right side to see if yours are turned off.

Marlton, NJ

Great pics everyone!

It's so nice to see the Orioles!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Ads turn-off option. I like that! I'll def. look for that feature. Yesterday I had this one single goldfinch came to the feeder, only to be chased away by other bullies. Argh!!! At mating season, and nesting season, seems like everyone (bird) can be a 'little' tertorial to say the least.

My Goldfinch have all but vanished. Just as I bought extra seed. :-(

Nice pic Lily!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

I only have a few Goldfinches but have at least 2 male and 1 female Indigo Buntings and several Orioles...so beautiful and cautious!!
Also have had 2 feisty little Pine Siskins the past few days.

This is the best time of the year...even though I am still Rose-breasted Grosbeakless!!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Rose, rosebreasted grosbeak has detoured to Alabama on the way North. So maybe they're just leasurely taking their time to get to you. Hope they will be there soon for you. ^_^

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

I need buntings next! Or I'll take an oriole. oh, and a hummingbird.

Grapeland, TX

thank you for the pics everyone!!!! a wonderful start to my day!
