DAILY PICS - VOL. #209
I wish I could visit all these wonderful places you all live and photograph all the great birds!!
Today I went to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm to see what was going on at the rookery. I've been trying to work on flight photos. This Wood Stork is just landing with another twig for its nest. I can see at least 4 babies, white with yellow bills in the nests at the tree top. There is also a Great Egret at the lower right with a baby.

Didn't quite work out as I planned, but thought you might enjoy anyway. Video/audio of blue jays doing their whistle call (audio of blue jays, video of waterfall).

Lovely Egret BH!
Yes, the "rusty gate sound". Love your waterfall....what kind of litle bird stopped by for a drink?
Hey Lith I will take a stab at it; Carolina Chicadees. I say this because the tail looks longer than the Black-capped Chicadee's tail.
Also just wanted to mention that its Vol. 209 and not 309. I had to think for a second to make sure I was counting correctly.
Nice shots all.
"I wonder if the birds really know how much of a positive contribution they make to our daily lives. And also, their economic impact. The growth of this forum is a reminder of that contribution. So, on we go, to ... " Linth, this was a great way to start a new thread. Thank you for saying it the way most of us would want to. (Hope that makes sense!)
I love everyone's photos, including that Cardinal DaneaJ!
...beautiful bunting, congrats on your double blooming cherry too. :-)
Thanks Lily, we have one in our front and one in our back yard. They're both big 20+yr old trees. They popped over the weekend and look really pretty right now. The timing was interesting, just as the last flowers were falling off our magnolia tree the Cherry took over to keep the bright pink color in our yard
Thanks gardenpom. It was a pine siskin that landed.
So, I challenge the viewers to tell me which Chickadee these photos represent
I'd go for Black-capped, given the rather long tail. A pic showing the wings would help a bit more. A hybrid of course can't be ruled out either.

Based on your location of MD, I'd go Carolina Chicadee or potentially a hybrid. Here's a quick little article from cornell on their study of ranges. Everything I've heard/read is pointing to Black Capped range moving more Northward. Studies in PA have shown very few true Black Capped birds in the southern counties with lots of hybrids. At this year's CBC we were encouraged to document "Chicadee Species" due to the number of hybrids in the area.

How awesome is that! Congrats Patty.
Hey Patty, that's great. I have chickadees in a gilbertson! I added a hole reducer though, so neener neener on the sparrows!
Thanks. I didn't have time to get a hole reducer by the time the chickadees were starting to nest. I plan to get one for the next time around just to be safe.
Super pics everyone!!!!
Patty, Congratulations on the Chickadees.
jec, Love the Indigo Bunting surrounding by pink!
Danea, Beautiful Cardinal!
Lily, Congrats on the new bird!
bsharf, Excellents shots of such beauties!!
duc, I love that Hooded Oriole!
I agree with Carolina Chickadee since I recently found out that the Black-capped are north of Princeton, New Jersey now.
Great job Everyone!
The screws that come with the reducer it are for wood, so pretty long for the Gilbertson. I filed mine down so they were not sharp. I'm dying to look to see if an egg is there yet!
Took the feeder down for the summer--just attrachting squirrels.
