I wish I could visit all these wonderful places you all live and photograph all the great birds!!

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

Today I went to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm to see what was going on at the rookery. I've been trying to work on flight photos. This Wood Stork is just landing with another twig for its nest. I can see at least 4 babies, white with yellow bills in the nests at the tree top. There is also a Great Egret at the lower right with a baby.

Nanny wouldn't it be great to have a vacation to visit everyone who posts here and sharing our experience? Gardenpom, I'm looking forward to see you baby wp. I had one just came by to check out my emptied suet feeder, and the cardinals promptly chased the wp away.

Didn't quite work out as I planned, but thought you might enjoy anyway. Video/audio of blue jays doing their whistle call (audio of blue jays, video of waterfall).

Hi Lily Love: we cross posted! I was excited to see at least ten Roseate Spoonbills. Probably because I got there at 9AM, before they had left the rookery to go out to feed.

Lovely Egret BH!

Yes, the "rusty gate sound". Love your waterfall....what kind of litle bird stopped by for a drink?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Caption: "Whatcha lookin' at?" Some of these cuties are busy calling their youngs to gather around the feeder. They're so much fun in action. E_B I like that utube clip, I may just send some of mine in.

I wanted to share picture of our Mr. Cardinal having dinner. They are so pretty.

Hey Lith I will take a stab at it; Carolina Chicadees. I say this because the tail looks longer than the Black-capped Chicadee's tail.

Also just wanted to mention that its Vol. 209 and not 309. I had to think for a second to make sure I was counting correctly.

Nice shots all.

"I wonder if the birds really know how much of a positive contribution they make to our daily lives. And also, their economic impact. The growth of this forum is a reminder of that contribution. So, on we go, to ... " Linth, this was a great way to start a new thread. Thank you for saying it the way most of us would want to. (Hope that makes sense!)

I love everyone's photos, including that Cardinal DaneaJ!

FIrst Indigo Bunting feeder visit for me. I added one to my yard list just this weekend. This morning when I looked out this guy was hanging out eating millet.

...beautiful bunting, congrats on your double blooming cherry too. :-)

Downingtown, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Lily, we have one in our front and one in our back yard. They're both big 20+yr old trees. They popped over the weekend and look really pretty right now. The timing was interesting, just as the last flowers were falling off our magnolia tree the Cherry took over to keep the bright pink color in our yard

Thanks gardenpom. It was a pine siskin that landed.

Quoting:
So, I challenge the viewers to tell me which Chickadee these photos represent

I'd go for Black-capped, given the rather long tail. A pic showing the wings would help a bit more. A hybrid of course can't be ruled out either.

Downingtown, PA(Zone 6b)

Based on your location of MD, I'd go Carolina Chicadee or potentially a hybrid. Here's a quick little article from cornell on their study of ranges. Everything I've heard/read is pointing to Black Capped range moving more Northward. Studies in PA have shown very few true Black Capped birds in the southern counties with lots of hybrids. At this year's CBC we were encouraged to document "Chicadee Species" due to the number of hybrids in the area.

I was finally successful in getting chickadees to nest in my yard. After some creative house sparrow deterring I was able to get the chickadees to claim the Gilbertson nestbox. 6 eggs hatched yesterday.

How awesome is that! Congrats Patty.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Hey Patty, that's great. I have chickadees in a gilbertson! I added a hole reducer though, so neener neener on the sparrows!

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks. I didn't have time to get a hole reducer by the time the chickadees were starting to nest. I plan to get one for the next time around just to be safe.

Marlton, NJ

Super pics everyone!!!!

Patty, Congratulations on the Chickadees.

jec, Love the Indigo Bunting surrounding by pink!

Danea, Beautiful Cardinal!

Lily, Congrats on the new bird!

bsharf, Excellents shots of such beauties!!

duc, I love that Hooded Oriole!

I agree with Carolina Chickadee since I recently found out that the Black-capped are north of Princeton, New Jersey now.

Great job Everyone!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

The screws that come with the reducer it are for wood, so pretty long for the Gilbertson. I filed mine down so they were not sharp. I'm dying to look to see if an egg is there yet!

Took the feeder down for the summer--just attrachting squirrels.

bsharf, Gorgeous Great Egret.

Here's baby Eastern Bluebirds in the box today. A little hard to see, you can make out their pin feathers. Yesterday they were all mouth with tiny yellow beaks. Today they appeared to be resting and balled up together. Looks like there's at least four.
