Is Petite oleander propagation possible for a nucklehead?

Is Petite oleander propagation possible for a nucklehead like me?

My first question is what makes a “petite” oleander petite? Are these plants from seeds or are they grafted or what? If you root a cutting will it still maintain its petite qualities? I would like to make a 4’ high hedge 75’ long. We want it to be oleander but I don’t want to be out there trimming hedges every month. We are also on a budget and 25 of these babies at $10 per gallon pot is pricy.

I can't help you on how to root them, but I'm sure someone else will know. If you are successful with your cuttings, the resulting plant will be the same as the original. When you grow things from cuttings they keep the properties of the parent plant. It's when you start them from seed that you may get something with different characteristics.

I actually just cut a limb off my tree today that really broke in the wind. You can just plug it in the ground here and it grows, with a little root stimulator and a little care. im sure you can grow a cutting in a pot like this.

Richard: I am growing some cuttings from a "dwarf" oleander and they are doing well but the progress is slow. The dwarfs, I have been told, will get to a max of 6'. I live in Hanford, CA just down the road from you. Oleanders are the way to go! My dad grew all the ones that we have on the property from cuttings. Takes time but is worth the wait.
