Companion planting for Ivy

Riverdale, NJ(Zone 6a)

One neighbor planted Boston ivy while another planted English ivy. Time passed. They have both been sneaking about on the perimeter of my garden. I was very ill for most of last year. Sensing weakness, they allied with a couple of local volunteers, poison ivy and bittersweet, and they attacked my hedgerows with a vengeance. I had no choice but to cut the hedges back to nubs, and I have spent a week of our beautiful, "spring like", 80+ degree days dressed from head to toe in gas mask and body armor, digging up roots and spraying agent orange, or at any rate, one of its cousins.

Now I have come to the conclusion that the perfect companion planting for almost any sort of invasive ivy is the bright spark that planted it. Am I wrong?

ROTFL!

LOL! Do these neighbors like you?

Actually, on second thought, that might just feed the ivy. Although it would have the effect of discouraging future plantings of it.

Naw! I am sure they like me. The one that didn't planted bamboo, kudzu and a couple of black walnut trees. :)))

Wow. I had not thought of accidentally fertilizing the ivy. You folks are so sharp here. Don't miss a trick. Oh well. And I had just put the shovel back in the shed. :)))

Bamboo, kudzu and black walnut--ROTFL! Those first two would be some seriously invasive stuff! That would almost be worse than nocturnal barking dogs!!
