Do you think it would be safe to plant a Drake Elm 10 feet from the corner of a home? I know they eventually get pretty big but wonder if 10 feet and pruning would be good enough.
I am thinking about the root system and in general if it would be safe to plant one that close. Thanks
Drake Elm
Here are the recommendations from arbor day foundation

The spread on a Drake elm may reach 50' so take that into consideration.
Thanks flowerjen,
That page is very helpful!
ECam, we live in hurricane country. Ten feet from the house is just too darn close. Go out to the Volusia County Fairgrounds and look at the trees along the interior road that's back behind where they have the flea market. Those are drake elms. They have been in the ground 5 to 7 years. Imagine them 10 feet from your house when a hurricane like Charlie comes through. Not good.
If they can really get 50' wide you don't want a tree that size 10' from your house regardless--even in an area that's not prone to storms that's way too close.
Thanks, your right, 10 feet is too close. I have another place in mind now.
