natural fence

we have the worlds worst neighbors..just on one side of us...the things they try to do to us is ridiculous. any ways we had a great shadow box but a tornado took it out..we decided to leave are yard open ...the neighbor tried to sue us to put up our own fence! and there was a property line battle he was 6 ft on ours and we just wanted to have our entire yard which made him mad..any ways he put up a shadow box himself he did a terrible job you can totally see through it and he is nosey..i want to make a natural wall/sceen/fence whatever they are called..i m not sure how i would love to make a high wall of hedges..i also have seen american holly trees can be griwn close enough to make it look like one wall..but whatever i do i need to make sure i dont have to deal with the side that faces his fence...soo any suggestions i saw a wall made out of mesh and ivy but i could not figure out how to make it like what mesh etc i want something that can be at least 7 feet....the mese living wall looks neat and so do the hedges that are made into walls i like that old english garden look but im open to any suggestions thank you for your help! the picture i put up is one of american holly trees..i have a feeling it would be hard to get that pretty and big of a wall without waiting 20 years

If I was in the same situation, first, I would have some one from your county government come to your property and mark the property line. Second, I would go with a privacy fence. Unless you have some restriction on fence height, etc., you should get better and QUICKER satisfaction with a privacy fence than a hedge. If you legally know you property line and you are not violating any regulation in regard to fencing, then there is little your neighbor can do about you putting up a fence. If you do opt for hedge, I would do a little more research. The holly and ivy you mentioned to me is a poor choice. Go to a local nursery and tell them what your expectations are for a privacy hedge and they should be able to steer you in the right direction. Just be aware that a privacy hedge is more work than just planting it. There is watering until it is established and the unpredictability of the hedge's growth which may take YEARS of growth to get to the stage where it provides the privacy you want. Good luck !

If I knew what you meant by a shadow box, I might have some suggestions, but I have no idea what one is. Enlighten me, please?

It's a wooden privacy fence where you alternate which side of the fence the boards are nailed to, that way the fence looks identical on both sides (vs if you nail all the boards to one side of the fence, one neighbor sees all the nice fronts of the boards, and the other neighbor has to look at all the rails that the boards are nailed to). I'm thinking of planting a hedge. Unfortunately we have a bad neighbor too. We have a wooden fence, but I caught our dear neighbor pulling on it, at night, and now it breaks up on different places...
I looked into different kind of hedges, but as somebody suggested it is lots of work and money. (and who knows, what the man will do next)
In TV an agriculture person advertised a kind of "Salix tree" 0.60 cent a piece (salix-irrorata) I think, which grows very fast and keeps the noise out. I got some pics and it may help you a bit more
