i recycle my empty coffee cans and keep cut worms off of my squash at the same time.this old school trick works well with any of your more tender plants and so far has not reduced growth or crop production of plant. i cut the bottom off of my empty coffee cans and drill 5 holes in the plastic lid. i fill the can with soil and plant my seed in can. hint to speed germination on larger seeds soak them 1 hour in warm water before planting. when you are ready to plant your seedling you have two choices. one is to remove the lid off of the bottom of the can and gently push the plant out of the can, plant the plant and reuse the can and lid. the second choice is to remove the lid plant can and all with about 2 inches of the can above ground. hey i love posthole diggers for this. the cut worms don't crawl up the metal can. i also like to plant some of my pepper plants on the outside of my white picket fence and can weed eat around the can and not cut the plant. watering with a garden hose is easy too. i love the old school tips!!! crazyfish 3
recycle coffee cans
GREAT TIP! Thanks! Does it have to be a coffee can or can I use something as small as those juice or maybe a soup can? I eat LOTS of soup!

Gymgirl, soup cans sound large enough for good stim growth. juice cans could be too narrow. I drink coffee and have all ways used them thanks i never thought of soup cans.
