CORN PLANT DYING

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 8b)

COULD I BE OVER WATERING? LEAVES TURN YELLOW THEN BROWN. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WATER?

Overwatering is a very common mistake with these, and your symptoms do sound right (a picture would help though--the symptoms of overwatering are similar to the symptoms of many other problems, so it could be something else). In terms of watering frequency, that depends on a lot of variable (size of the pot, size of the roots relative to the pot, temperature in the area the plant is being kept, type of potting mix you used, etc). The best thing to do is stick your finger down a few inches into the pot and see how it feels--if it's really dry then you can water it but if it's still feeling wet then you need to hold off. Also make sure that the pot you have it in has drainage holes and if you're keeping a tray underneath it to catch excess water, make sure you are emptying that tray out rather than letting it sit in water.

Thank you ecrane3, for the info. I'm glad to have found this website. I love my plants and now I have hope that I can take care of them properly. Thanks again from Las Vegas.
