Is that Tyler scooted under there? He is so funny! Poor guy, you can't explain to him why his friend doesn't come to play anymore. Glad the toy helps a bit.
DBower, your "Hard Luck Kitty" story is very unusual. He sounds like a loyal gardener's friend to be doing away with your slugs. I've never heard of cats having any interest in slugs, but I suppose anything that moves, however slimily and slowly, must be fair game.
Who Are Your Garden Helpers Part Two
Oh Hard luck kitty doesn't kill slugs on purpose...he just lays on my porch and they happen to be congregating there and get smushed.
Well however it works, I suppose getting rid of slugs is a good thing. But, however do you get the slug slime out of his fur? This is truly a topic unique to the PNW region.
Must be a BIG kitty, He can come over anytime and smush mine.
Hi DB Welcome to DG, I'm Mary and have been kinda out of the loop for awhile. Puter hates me.... LOL
Thats Tyler under the car, Just found out he has a major ear infection. We will have to mussle him to get the meds in his ear, he dos not like to be messed with so this will be fun. NOT!!!!
I tried to do his nails and he tore me to pieces. I can do the cats easier than that.
Maury, Doggly was a beautiful boy! I agree with Kathy about Doggly's ball. It is comforting to know that he will always be with you in the garden.
Tilly, that pic of Tyler is too much. Poor kid, losing a friend and then an ear infection to top it off. Hopefully he will realize that you are trying to help him with the meds and cooperate better than you think he will.
Dbower, I love the kitty helping with the slugs, but cringe to think of the cleanup! Yuck!
The wonderful thing about furbabies is that the love is so quick and unconditional, that although you will never forget the ones that you have shared your life with in the past, a new one will find you and make your heart happy again. My Hunter was a "freak puppy" that my dobie Sassy had when she was nine (her first litter, and completely a surprise as we had tried to breed her for years and were never successful...figured that she was sterile). She was gone within a year after having him, but his goofy personality made it so much easier on me dealing with the loss of his mom.
He was enjoying the sunny weekend this last weekend, and I couldn't resist taking a picture...looks like pure contentment to me!
Yuck on the slug slime in the fur! Dealing with that is no fun. I remember my first schnauzer puppy when she decided to check out what a slug was. I had a terrible time cleaning up her mouth. She learned her lesson, though, and never touched a slug again,
Ewwwww!
This will sound gross but for the most part they are pretty dry in the morning. I am sure laying in the dirt and bathing in the sun helps :)
ahhhh, so that's what we need to do when we grab one by accident; but I'd be spending the majority of my time lying in the soil/sunbathing...
I heard somewhere years ago, that rubbing rose leaves on your hands will remove slug slime. Never tried it myself.
I find that rubbing/scraping slug slime (on grass, dirt, leaves, pants, paper towel) will get the slime off. Water is no help.
Mary, I hope Tyler is (and you are) doing okay with that ear infection.
Kathy
Alls well in that Department, Ty's a little lamb when Moma does it LOL guess he don't like are Vet. And he knows that he is feeling better. So it is much easier
I hate slug slime, When weeding and accidently grab one with the weed and squish in on you gloves. makes a find mess, then you get stuck to everything else. grab a hand full of dirt all is good.
Beautiful pic's Ginger. The one of your cat is priceless!
Tree Swallows! How pretty. You're very lucky.
I found out they are kind of unusual to find in our area so I do feel lucky. They are right outside my bedroom window so I get to hear Daddy's strange chirpple all the time.. I think he is saying GET AWAY CHARLOTTE!
They are also very interesting to watch fly.
GInger
Swallows are amazing fliers, aren't they. Around here, they buzz the cars in the intersetions to catch the bugs. Fun! Although, sometimes, I get honked at for not paying attention...imagine. ^_^
They were doing some nest cleaning the other day. Mom was coming out with large feathers and taking them somewhere. She dropped one and dad swooped down and snatched it mid-flight. It was cool.
Ginger
I love to watch swallows. Have never gotten to see one up close, thank you Ginger. What a treat to be able to watch.
The swallows arrive here sometime in May. They always check out the eaves of the house. So far no nests being built. They like to swoop over the golf course in the morning after the mower are done. And they were going over my big pond the other day.
Love the picture of Charlotte!
She just wanted to admire your lovely garden. ^_^
Ooooh, Irwells, maybe you have a new gardening companion. Is she friendly?
The picture of Charlotte is great.
And I love the picture of Sweet Pea, too. I know exactly how she feels - the heat poops me out. Bea, did you hear about the cougar the neighborhood oustide Corvallis? Apparently he/she had a Yorkshire Terrier pinned and then the Chihuahua came in a drove the big cat off. It's all the talk of the town.
Had not heard about. Just found this small article and pictures of the two dogs. Cute!

Thanks for posting that. So it was a Border Terrier, rather than a Yorkie . . . I think my brother lives near there (that's where I was staying last weekend) - I'll have to find out specifically where Neabeack Hill is.
That is a nice looking dog.
Good dog story too.
I wouldn't leave if I were her.... Who wouldn't want to be in Paris (even if it is TX)
Ginger (Who is planning her next trip as we speak)
I like your style beadmom!
Ginger, The tree swallows are wonderful! We spend the weekend at Mom's vac house in Eastern Washington and she has a pair nesting in a box by her deck. They are such a joy to watch! Fortunately, unlike you we don't have a feline helper over there to watch them with us!
Bea, I agree with Kathy, I know exactly how Sweetpea feels. First too cold, now too hot, and it drains you! Her expression says it all!
Irwells, Your new friend is a cutie! Hopefully his family finds him soon, but I can't say I blame him for wanting to enjoy your lovely world!
Ok all, so D-day for my new puppy was Friday morning...Phoenix is now officially in my care. I am so totally in love! We left straight from work Friday night to E-WA, and just returned this morning before work (Family business means puppy can hang out with me at work :P), so she hasn't met the rest of her new brothers and sisters yet, but we had a wonderful weekend of bonding.
I will now proceed to bore you with a few pictures of my new baby.
She is so smart...she learned the pet door at the house on the first try. The heat tuckered her out as well, and she didn't mind hanging half in and half out as it was in the shade!
RJ..Cute picture. Her expressions says " I rather widdle inside". She is just adorable. Glad she is home with you now.
I WANT ONE...... puppies are the best.
Ginger
Such a sweet little girl. She looks like she has green eyes. wouldn't that be awesome.
