Can anybody tell me what this little beauty is?

Jackson, TN(Zone 7b)

This was growing wild on the side of the road between the Kentucky and Tennessee state line. There were several patches of it everywhere. Know what it is?

I surfed a few wildflower sites for both Kentucky and Tennessee but didn't see that one. It sure is pretty! it reminds me of the wild clover here in Kansas but the flower heads are white not pink. Here's a wildflower seed site I found that might be helpful. http://www.easywildflowers.com/Seeds.htm

Crimson Clover...The name does fit the plant. Thanks for the link midwest!

Kerrville, TX

I think it is probably crimson clover too. But another possibility is globe amaranth. Its flowers are usually more round shaped but sometimes as it is first flowering, you can get some elongated blooms. Pics and info attached:

Whoops........editing this to say it is most probably crimson clover. I missed the part where you said it was growing beside the road. Louisiana planted lots of it beside the road in SW Louisiana. I think another name for it is "rabbits foot clover" and it can be red or white or shades in between. Info attached:

If I have any more crazy ideas, I will check back with you. :-)
