We've just bought a water mill with an orchard in France but we don't have a clue what's in our garden. Could anybody help us out? 16 of them i'd like to know by name to determine what to do with them. Keep, move or remove them ... you can find all pics on http://www.flickr.com/photos/supergites/sets/72157617060584726/ .. leave comments there or reply me here. Marco

Unknown to my new garden
Keep everything - don't pull a single plant until a local gardener tours the property with you. What a treasure-trove. You have a Secret Garden that just needs to be reclaimed. Lovely.
Marco, that's a heavenly place...lucky you!
Thank you ... we're very happy with it though it's a huge job to get it right :-)
Absolutely beautiful! Lucky you! I agree about getting a local gardener, maybe even the previous owner? Until then, just let it grow and see what developes...and enjoy! The one I think you said was an ugly bush, looks like some kind of berry plant to me. But, of course, I'm a still a beginner gardener after 6 years. LOL!
If you want your plants identified, you might try posting in the Plant ID forum, I bet you you'll get ID's on most of them there. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/plantid/all/
Thanks :-)
Marco, hope this will help a little.Pic #4 on your slide show could be a Hazelnut ,not 100% sure though.
#17 Urtica dioica Nettle, herb or weed ,your call12
# 16 is a campanula, most likely carpatica
#15 looks like saponaria officinalis or Soapwort
#13 99.9% sure that it is rhubarb
# 12 rosa rugosa , I'd say probably a pink one, very common in Europe
#9 primula vulgaris
with the trees I don't know, never had an orchard only gardens. You will probably come up with all kinds of other wetland flowers as the year progresses. Love to hear and see more of your jardin en France. Bonne chance,Daisy
Marco, how is everything going? we'd love to see seasonal pictures of your beautiful gardens. Have you identified anything rare and unusual?
I'd just enjoy!
