I did crop a couple, SW. But with the ones taken through glass, it just degrades the photo too much. Also, the 'hidden hummer' pic was too much fun as is. :-)
Got a few more today, hope they come out - I think it's our black-chinned!
Hummingbird Adventures #6
Too much glass, rats! I must say your windows are a lot cleaner than mine! LOL!
The hidden hummer didn't need any "fixing", it was perfect just the way it was.
Can't wait to see the photos you got today. Sometimes looking at what I was able to capture is the best part of the day. Of course I throw away a lot of bad photos, but I am learning.
WIB!
SW
I throw away MOST photos! LOL
The battery light was blinking and the sun was behind the house while I was shooting through the front window, so I can't hope for much. He stuck around for about ten minutes, though, so I got to just look at him a lot - and no Anna's bothering him. It was amazing. He'd had a bath and was sitting on a branch of the Passiflora that surrounds the kitchen window, so the mini-blinds were also in the way. I managed to slowly pull them up and he still sat there. Very cool. :-)
Kaper you did great with your photos. I love that second bathing one. I have a lot of problems with the bright sun being in the wrong place too. Mostly, I try to get the pictures in the late afternoon or early morning before the sun really comes up. Don't give up with the photos, I love seeing everyones pictures!
SW was right, my Rufous was just opening its mouth and talking to me. Think I caught this picture just as it was tucking its tongue back inside.
Ever hear how the hummingbirds survive the cold nights? I just got this from Journey North. They have regular emails to anyone that signs up and it's pretty interesting. When you get to the link, after reading the first page, click on "Next" for the next few pages.

My hummers are really enjoying the pollen on the Carolina Jasmine vines.
I can SOO RELATE to overnight torpor! For me it takes logging into DG and a cup of coffee to shake it.....LOL!
Kathleen, my oriole, well the one that frequents here does not have a black head, he's yellow with black under neath but there was a new one today, he had orange on his head...as usual...no camera on hand.
Weegy, the black head one will be a Bullock's Oriole.
Kaper, I checked by hummer books and they didn't say anything about the bill, but that doesn't mean you aren't right. Sure hope you get photos in the light soon, although this is a great sillouette! I love that plant!! Can you tell me its name? If the hummers and Orioles enjoy it, I'd like to have one for my front deck.
Imapigeon, LOL!!
