We do not have gutters so when it rains there are three places on the roof where the water funnels to and creates a huge downpour. Obviously, I cannot plant anything in these spots and when I lay down mulch the water comes down so hard the mulch gets thrown everywhere. The run-off creates holes in the landscape. I have rocks at one spots and they work okay, but I am wondering if there are any other ideas. Rain chains will not work because I have no gutter to attach them to and rain barrels are too unsightly for the front yard.
Water run-off from the roof-anything I can do?
They sell some more decorative looking rainbarrels. They're not cheap, but if it's looks that you're after then that's probably your best option unless you're up for installing some gutters with downspouts or rain chains.
Since I got my roof done in tin I have the same problem. I went to a landscaping place and got a load of large decorative stones...baseball size...spread them wherever the water fell into my gardens. Looks good and they do not move in a heavy downpour.
I have the same issue in the front and rocks work great.
I had that same problem and I bit the bullet and got the rain gutters. Not all that expensive considering the amount of work and money you put into the plants and flower beds. They have certainly made a big difference. You could easily get an estimate for just the area over your flower beds. Or, you can do it yourself....the materials are really affordable.
I put a large stepping stone in my garden where the water falls. That seems to have helped a little.
