I have the day off today and would like to put some established plants and some new seedlings in the ground. The low tonight is 35 degrees. Will they be too vulnerable to withstand cold temperatures? (I live in zone 7).
Putting plants in the ground during cold snap
Where have the plants been living up until this point? If they're things that would be reliably hardy to temperatures lower than that and they've been outdoors for a while now then they won't be any worse off in the ground than in the containers they're in now, but if they've been in your house and you haven't hardened them off then you need to do that first (if they've been indoors, they also need to be adjusted gradually to the outdoor sunlight as well as temperatures).
