Best place to order pre-designed perennial beds

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

A co-worker of mine has decided to landscape his new house (zone 5). He has decided to take the easy way and to order pre-designed perennial beds since as he puts it, he has no design smarts. He asked me to help him with finding a good company (or companies) to order the plants from. What companies out there have the best (in your opinion) pre-designed offers?

Piedmont, SC(Zone 7b)

I did a search and the only thing I found that was pre-designed was packs of seeds or the mats that you water and the seeds are in the mat. I hope someone else can help.

Oakley, CA(Zone 8b)

My friend just got a pre-designed garden from Bluestone Perennials. She said the roots were strong and her plants were in great shape. If you want a garden design and you want to buy your own plants at a local nursery Go to www.bhg.com. They have great garden designs and there free.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

I agree with shelbsyd that a good source is Bluestone Perennials. http://www.bluestoneperennials.com/b/bp/preplanned.html They are highly rated here at Dave's Garden, and I can speak from personal experience that they are a good company to do business with. While their plants tend to be on the small side, they are reasonably priced. They also have an excellent customer service department and have assistance available for any questions you may have.

I purchased day lilies and other plants from Bluestone Perennials last year and they are coming back this year. I really like there services and plants. However they are a little small, but have strong roots.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

You *might* try your local Sam's Club to---perhaps a friend has a membership if you don't?---I noticed for the first time they had the kits to buy at the store for landscape beds, came with small starts of plants though...

Tampa, FL(Zone 10a)

I would recommend you send your friend to a good local garden center. The plants will cost the same (or less when you consider shipping), the material you get will be adapted to your area and they will be more than happy to custom a design to fit your tastes.
