Ornamental Crab Apple Tree Question
I don't know how you could prevent the apples. Why not just put a sign out front that says 'FREE APPLES -YOU PICK'. They should be gone in a day or two.
Here's a product called Florel that you can spray on trees to prevent fruit http://www.treehelp.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=LG-4100 The catch is that timing of application is very critical. If your trees haven't started blooming yet or are just getting going then you still have time, but if they're past their peak bloom then it's too late for this year. And of course you have to have a sprayer that will allow you to spray the entire tree--if they're large that may be a bit problematic but if they're fairly small then it shouldn't be too hard.
Thanks I purchased the Florel at Oakland Park nursery, Columbus oh
Now if I can find someone to do the spraying.
