East Texas RU Food & Head count

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ummm chips, finger food stuff

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Phyllis has asked me to head the food. Since it is hard to bring enough serving utensils for each dish, I'm asking each of you to bring the appropriate utensil for EACH dish, please!! Tape your name on each, and that will make it easier to keep up with!! Thanks!!

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Best route from Athens is Hwy 175. Go to 2nd red light in Jacksonville and take a left, north on 69. Love's Lookout is only a few miles on 69. This will save you lots of time and traffic. Not a bad trip at all, nice road and little traffic.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

thanks DD I knew someone would know the best way

Hutchins, TX

Thank you very much lady's

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh and BTW.. it's a door prize for each that will be in attendance in your party. That way every one goes home with a door prize. This is only if you want to participate though in the door prizes

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

I am bringing a bag of mushroom compost for my prize. I took one to CS RU and it was a hit.

For the food, I will bring blackberry cobbler. I will be attending alone, until I get there with so many wonderful friends to visit with.

Charlene

Beaumont, TX(Zone 9a)

ooh, ooh, ooh, blackberry cobbler. No need to even put that out, just bring it straight to my table.

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL I agree AJ!

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

Ok, chips and finger food stuff. :)

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Charlene-is there anything I can trade you to save me a big helping of the blackberry goodie ? Love that stuff. You will not be alone in J'ville.

Gilmer, TX

I have never been to one of these events. I am relatively new to this area, but I love gardening. Since my plants are babies, I am not bringing anything to trade, but I will being a friend and brownies. Does that work? I hope to buy some plants if you will accept money instead of trades. I tried to go to the Tyler Round Up last year, but had to cancel at the last minute. I am determined to meet everyone this time, though.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Works for us...and usually we have leftovers to share...come on down, out or up!!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Weedsgone come on down no worries as to trades or not !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I started out with nothing more then some trees from our place nothing really to trade when we moved here summer of 07 and now the stuff plant wise I am trading is because of these wonderful folks sharing with me

oh dang i just remembered I was goin to hit wally world for the name tags to get them made I better do that tomorrow LOL

Oh also eyes and pat you both asked for black eyed susans....one is looking okay but the other isn't' doing well from the potting so will try to get a few more and hopefully they will make it

I have black eye susan vines. I have about a million MG's that I lost the labels on in a storm. I only had bunches of three kinds all vine types: Deep purple beauties that came up on their own behind HEB in Orange and are to die for. Deep blue which I am sure is Heavenly blue which came up on it's own on a friend's fence. Sky blue which came up in my pasture. The sky blue is only about 2/3 or maybe even half the size of the others which are huge.

I have only a few that I can positively id so far. LMK if anyone wants any of these.
DDeTex, I'll see that you get some blackberry cobbler.

Phyllis, I am bringing another person with me, her name is Janie and she lives in Chandler, a new DG member. She raises worms and will be bringing worm castings and worm compost tea bags with her, and a dish and door prize also. Not sure what dish. Thanks!

Palestine, TX(Zone 8b)

I agree with Blkraven, I think the darker mg is Grandpa Ott. I have one and it looks just like it. Very pretty.

Worm castings and tea bags, now that I can get into. :)

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

darkmoon, tell Janie to come see Smock (no relation) & I. We don't have everything we are bringing already traded off. And I know I would love some worm casting &/or compost tea. I even collect jugs/bottles for the next RU. Sorta like returnable bottles!!! lol
:~)

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Sure will Smockette! She will be bringing lots of worm stuff to trade, door prize and sell I believe. Nice lady!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks Trishann... Josephine is bringing the buns... and I have 15 packs of dogs.. I think that will be enough...??

Dallas, TX

I see I am to bring my famous fresh ham again, I thought that was for college station? But thats ok, I was hoping everyone was not burn out on it. I can make them easier so i guess that cobbler is out! :)
My neighbor Mattie is coming again, she is going to bake a cake! I see two people up there bringing potatoe salad so I am still going to make my dessert. What do you people have against meat :)

OK ... I AM THE GUILTY ONE! The woman who comes home with everyone's utensils! I bring them back every year and nobody claims them. I have a big black platic fork and a slotted spoon with a Black handle. I think Linda told me it belong to Josephine ... and she was not at the last RU. I find them in my roasting pan when I get home:)

Becky you are in town again! I thought you were coming to vist... I am retired now so I am home going crazy all day.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, the slotted spoon with the black handle is mine, can you please bring it?

Phyllis I counted 58 people attending is that correct? I need to know how many packages of buns to buy for the hot dogs.
Josephine.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Josephine cold you do 8 packages of buns? I know some will not use buns but better safe then sorry I suppose
I counted wtih guests coming around 64

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

O.K. 8 packages sounds right, but just to let you know, you have some people in twice.
Josephine.

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, are you still bringing potato salad? I still see you up there on the list but I want to make sure.
If so I think I am going to change to fruit salad. It would probably be easier to make anyway. Thanks.
