I planted this vine in spring of 2006. It flowered for two years. Last year it grew huge but no blooms. What might I expect this year? It's planted on south side of a garage with a trellis.
Zone 4..Thanks
Candy corn vine
Since you haven't had any responses why don't you re-post on the Vines and cCimbers forum.
Do you know the Latin name of your vine or have a picture of it? The only plant I know of as candy corn vine is Manettia luteorubra http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1338/ which is only hardy to zone 10, so if you've got this planted outside then it's obviously not that one. Without knowing what vine it is it's hard to say for sure what's wrong, but there are a few possibilities. One would be if it's a vine that blooms on old wood, maybe the buds got damaged by a late cold snap last year so it didn't bloom. Or since you mentioned that it grew a huge amount, maybe you gave it a bit too much nitrogen fertilizer--that will trigger lots of green growth sometimes at the expense of blooms.
