Aloha all-
I have a gigantic Brugmansia with white flowers growing about thirty feet from where I sleep. Sometimes it has about fifty or so blooms at a time. I find that their scent is overwhelming sometimes, and was wondering if any of the scent components carry the toxins? Has anyone ever heard about people being affected only by the scent, not eating plant parts? Just wondering...
Angel's trumpets, Brugmansia - toxic scent,too?
The scent doesn't carry those toxins, but if you're one of the many people out there who are sensitive to fragrances, then you may be happier if you move it a bit farther from the house (same would go for any strongly scented plant, not just brugs)
Thanks ecrane. I had cut down that brugsmania, and carelessly thrown the branches in the bushes off the property. Two minutes later it became a ten foot all tree covered with flowers. Now I know better. Any root or branch of it can apparently live forever! The scent is sweet, but weird in mass quantities.
