Would you change your membername?

Would you change your membername if everyone could still recognize you?

I would love to change my membername. But, then people that know me, recognize my membername, and If i changed it, it might be confusing.

Wish I would have taken more time originally to pick a better name, lol...guess I'm stuck with it

I wanted to change mine to reflect the correct spelling, but as it turned out, the name was already taken. Others that I was considering were taken, too. If I could come up with a new membername, I would definitely change. It would be nice if we could have a limited time to post the old and new names together (like 6 weeks) before the new name took over.

So many of us sign our posts with our real first names, but there are a lot of people sharing the same name!

That is kinda what I was wishing for...like beside your name, it would say (formerly such-and-so) for a period of a few months, until people could get used to your new name :0)

It can be done, Once. I remember a couple of folks who have done it. One posted that she had changed the member name, the other did some thing similar, with an "I am back posting". Probably quite a few that I am not aware of.

Yes, I remember someone posting that she had changed her name. Seemed odd and took some time to recognize her.

I would pick a new user name.

I'm going to change mine when my year is up. Originally, I didn't realize I'd stick around, just had a question about a spider. So I didn't pick a very good name.

lol the same thing happened to me . i was in a hurry about roses . i was really wanting to look at plant files and ask a bunch of questions . so i tried a few basic ones that were taken . then i looked out the window and saw iris then i added my age . very creative , now im 29 lol . i never thought past asking my questions and looking at the pics . what would you change yours to taylor

I don't, know Dana, but anything is better than what I picked! lol...

I did the same thing...picked it quick so I could explore the site. Never thought it would become so useful and become as important to me as it is...

I've seen some really great names, though.

Loam ranger was one that really stood out for a guy :0)

I tried to pick luv2garden, originally, but all forms of it were already taken. My hubby is a tough guy and if he ever had one I'd want "The germinator"(as in "The Terminator") lol...

So after a year we can change? How do you go about doing that?

its not a big enough deal to me to go through the process then to have every one not know who was talking . i just wish i picked a better one from the start. but then again all i grew at the start were iris lol . but if i were to change it it would be something cutesie like babypetunia or something baby , lol i would definitely put more thought .

Dana-Yeah, I feel the same. Wish I had, but probably won't do anything about it. I sorta wish now I hadn't said anything, because now it just sounds like I am whining, lol

But, I really wanted to know if it was just me, or if other people felt the same. It does help to know that many of you picked your membername as quickly as I did :0)

JLP, I don't know the current rules and I could not find a FAQ on it. Back when a few folks were doing it, it was a one time deal. The quickest way to find the current status is to D-Mail Dave or Terry.

Why not just put your old user name in underneath, like a lot of people do their real names, and leave it for awhile until everyone recognizes the new name?

Like instead of Taylor, put 'previously Seedpicker_TX'

Last summer I was at a festival that encouraged costumes, super hero or fairy, and I'd already been a fairy on maaany halloweens. So I dressed as The Gardenator - green cape that I'd sewn to look like a leaf, glued some dollar store beneficial bugs on it, flower garland in my hair, green G glued on my tank top . . . :o)

I sure could use The Germinator about now to swoop in and sprout these dang delphiniums. Sheesh!

Here's one of me on the right but it doesn't show much of the details. (I've been dodging the camera because of weight gain from hypothyroidism.) I also made a drawstring burlap bag labeled Organic Fertilizer - used it to carry my camera and money and stuff. Fun weekend, good music. Sometimes you just gotta take time off from being a grownup.

Should I change my name to the gardenator? I haven't come up with a better one yet, but I have until June. What would the rest of you change your name to?
