I just moved a young 15 foot maple tree (I think it weighed the same as me, at least) it took me 4 1/2 hours to dig up and then move to it's new spot....and of course after I got it all settled in, my husband moseys home from work and is kind enough to drag the hose out for me to water the thing. Timing is everything, huh?
oh my aching back...
That certainly is true. You must be a lot younger than me. Yesterday my grandaughter and I planted 7 plants and I was pooped.
Today I'm hoping to fill the big hole I made...I can still move so that's a good sign lol
Oh gosh, if I moved a tree that big I'd be in traction! For a job like that it would probably take me, hubby, and my 13-year-old grandson, LOL!
Hey Lynnie, want to come for a visit? I have a lot of flowers to move and it would be childs play for you.LOL
lol I was EXHAUSTED after doing that! The neighbors must surely think I'm insane. I do work out regularly, but I had to take a few breaks in between all the digging. And I was really wrestling with the thing to get it on the dolly. I never got to the store for topsoil, I'm having a big crowd tomorrow and I'm not sure what I should do about the hole in the lawn. Maybe I can fill it with fake Easter basket grass. I would happily head south and help you guys, it must be a lot warmer there than here! :)
Yeah, if you lived down here you could fill the hole with water and let the kids play in it :-} Since it's too cold up there where you live, just tell all your company you had a meteor hit in your yard, LOL.
Don't tell them what you did!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Y ou may be digging up trees all over the place.LOL
LOL it's enough that I cooked for them! Fortunately it was too cold outside and nobody went out, so my secret is safe. I like the meteor story, I'll save it for the neighbors ;) I have high hopes of getting that hole filled tomorrow, supposed to be up to 50 degrees, it will be like a heat wave!
I moved another tree....
type no more . . .
where can i forward the all expense pad details to Huntersville, NC for
- oh say a week or two - depending on your back! Haah ahahahhha LOL!
Shoot, if it doesn't warm up here soon, I may MOVE to your area! We had some crazy wind gusts last night. I never staked the second tree I moved, I'm afraid to look, it's probably on it's side. It's a little juniper tree, only 4 or 5 feet tall.

True! I don't ENJOY cleaning house or painting rooms in this place but I do it because it's my labor of love---I love when it's all DONE hehe, but folks must think I get a kick out of it because I keep getting offers to come paint or clean someone else's place *groan* so mums the word on this tree digging business. :)
well the juniper tree I didn't stake withstood the winds, it's staked now...next time I move a tree I'll do it under cover of darkness! lol
I guess I won't tell anyone about the stairs I'm refinishing, either...sanded primed & painted all the spindles, risers and trim, and I'm ready to sand & stain the railings & treads. Can't do it this week, kids are home all week. I swore I'd have it finished before the warm weather got here...
Lynnie,
It sounds like your tree's former location might make a good spot for a new goldfish pond! You've already dug the hole! Just line it with pond liner and get the rocks!
ha! I should have put that pond liner in before the rain the past twp days! The fill probably sunk way down....it might be a pond now, anyway!
