Squash bugs

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

In years past, I have always used chemical pesticides for controlling squash bugs. This year I would like to try something more natural or safer. I did not compost the vines last year, I threw them away. I don't know if this will help with larvae overwintering. I am also moving locations of my squash plants, although my yard is not that large so I know the squash bugs will find my plants very quickly. My questions are does anyone know of any good prevention tips and alternative methods for removal of adults/larvae?

From my "Texas Bug Book" by Howard Garrett:

"Plant lots of flowers for pollen and nectar to attract predatory flies. Cover seedlings with floating row cover and hand-pollinate. Spray compost tea, molasses, or plant oil products for serious infestations."

A listener to Howard's radio show said to plant pink petunias among squash plants. He did this and hasn't seen a squash bug since.
