I pruned these back last fall. When / how should I start to replant them.

If you only pruned then why do you need to replant?

New guinea impatiens are annuals..did you take cuttings?

Portsmouth, OH

Yes, I took cuttings & put in a glass jar in window during winter.

Do they have a nice set of roots? If so, you can now pot them up but don't put them outside yet.

Yes they have a great root. When do you put them out?

After your frost date.

find it here if you don't know it....

No problem! Enjoy.

Can I plant these directly into the ground or should I start them inside first?

I did mention in previous replies to start inside then plant out after your frost date.

yea iknow, i thought maybe i could just plant them directly outside, after the frost date, of course. thanks

When you root a cutting in water, the roots are not the same as those that grows in the ground. You need to pot it up in soil, put in a plastic bag, allowing the top to be open a bit. If you don't, it will wilt and die. When you see new growth, gradually remove the plastic---fold it down a bit at a time. Then, before you plant it outside in your garden, it needs to be hardened off to outside weather.

Hardened off, does that mean take outside during the day & bring in @ night? I'm sorry if I sound like I do not know, but, I am farely new at gardening. Thanks for all the help! :)

dlanser Yes. You can put them where there is some shade to get them used to fresh air. These can't take any frost. Once the night temp is 50F or more, you can leave them outside. This variety prefer coolness and I found not the easiest variety to grow.
