East Texas Ru May 16

Gilmer, TX

Beck, That's a Justica carnea/Jacobinia plant. It will flower all season long. I've had mine for about ten years.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

catlady, do you have some to share? It is really quite beautiful.
Charlene

Gilmer, TX

I don't have any now charlene because it's just coming out of the GH. If you remind me inthe fall I will try to root you one or bring you some cutings to the Fall RU. It is beautiful and is the plant responsible for my finding DG. It was one of those impulse buys and I was trying to find out about it. DG came up as one of the references, saw where people were trading seeds and thought that sounds like fun. And of course the rest is history. LOL

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Pam.. then i must have gotten it from you! Girl I just love it!! It pulls your eye to it.. that's for sure... is it hardy outside? TY so much!! I think we all have very similar stories for how we found DG!!

Charlene.. I was going to say something quite ugly...( like nanananana).. but i changed my mind..LOLOL.. sorry... you know I am bad

Hutchins, TX

Thanks Ddetex

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

catlady, just the glads please. Thanks!

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey Beck, guess what? My varigated Althea is looking good! It was kinda peaked for a while after the other one bit the dust. It is growing a bit and looking like there is a shred of hope for it. If it ever gets enough size on it, I'll get you a start of it, since yours both bit the dust. No nananana here, just the facts mam, just the facts!

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Catlady, I will have some more bay laurels in the fall hopefully. I am out of them for now. I gave my last one away just last week. I didn't even keep one for myself.

Charlene

Gilmer, TX

Very good Charlene, between the two of us, we ought to be able to remember the bay laurel and jacobinia until fall.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL.. Charlene.. you are just a real cutey..lol.. yep mine bit the dust.. I should have written them about it.. but oh well. I bet yours is looking good! facts??...hmmmm are you sure??..LOL

I googled the Jacobinia Plant ... Pam... and it said they were hardy to 7b. I was wondering since you said you were just getting it out of the GH if you plant it in the ground?

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Eyes and Pat I am not sure on these black eyed susans I potted up some over the weekend and they have wilted pretty bad ...have them in the shade and moist to keep from cooking them so we will see what happens

Gilmer, TX

beck, I read that also and planted one I had started from a cutting. It didn't come back. Don't know if I didn't mulch it well enough or what, but I'm suppose to be in 8a. Ther mother plant spends her winters in an unheated GH. She stays green and has even bloomed on occasion in there. I haven't had alot of success rooting, but if you want to try, it is best to do it in the spring or fall whenthe temps are cool but not freezing. I have never gotten one to root in the heat.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Pam.. she's still a tiny thing.. well about 18" so i was so surprised to see these weird looking "things" coming from her..LOL.. what a nice surprise on the blooms!I planted her in the ground not knowing what she was, and when she gets larger I'll see about some cuttings. I am 8b/9 depending on whose map you look

I'm gonna have all my trades, but here's the kick in the rear...some of the rootings look good....some sorry. But, I will be bringing along fresh cuttings, and seeds for those that are struggling. We have had over 20 inches of rain in Grayson County this month, and I am so behind. Somethings are gangbusters and others are saying..."are you kidding, my feets are too wet!" Anywho...don't beat me too badly, am adding the following I dug up today.

Trishann, do you still have me down for Pink Dawn canna and a painted terra cotta pot? I have you down for a RubileneXpeanut brug and Pretty Angel pink canna.

Eyes, do you still want Blue Heaven mg seeds? I have managed to harvest five.

Anj you have listed correctly. :) I also wouldn't mind a couple of Business daylilies. I have just started planting lilies in my back yard.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Eyes, I would love some pink mg's if you have extras. If they are mixed up with the purple then send me a mix please. I have light blue ones that came up volunteer. I also have the Heavenly blue for you. I have purples, but I don't know which ones they are yet. I mixed 'em up. The Heavenly blues are coming up where they were last year, so I can pick those out for ya! I made a mess out of tagging some of my seeds. I thought I had it done right, but a very windy storm showed me I didn't have it right at all. LOL

Charlene

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Had to share the Heavenly blue with you.
