Third egg still hasn't hatched yet - beginning to wonder if it isn't viable

I'm sure two chicks will be plenty to handle for the parents. At this point it would be much smaller than the other two.

Melbourne, FL

The second born Osprey chick died. They say the third egg is hatching, though.

Surviving chick begging for food a few minutes ago.

I didn't have a chance to check in yesterday...that is bad news/good news.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Third egg still unhatched as far as I can see.

Notice how the adults clench up their claws 'club-footed' for safety whenever they go down into the nest bowl near the chick.

Looks like dinner just arrived...nope thats not dinner. the male(?) came in and appeared to have something stuck on his left foot....

Melbourne, FL

Third egg hatched this morning.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I just wonder how it will fare since there will be such a time lapse between the two....

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Well that third Eagle at West Virginia did okay. I wondered the same thing about it.
fingers crossed

Haven't had it open all day of course, but have looked in from time to time - and not seen a single fish brought in today. Anyone else seen any food brought in?

Weather not too awful, occasional heavy showers.

No, I have not seen the babies today. Whenever I turn it on she is sitting on the nest. I worry about the time between them also, though I noticed they changed the statement I saw earlier that said the second baby died, to just saying one of the babies died. Surely they know which one died. I'm sure if one Osprey chick survives, that is considered a successful season.

Seen the babies on 2 or 3 occasions, but no food brought in.

When I looked early yesterday morning and saw only one chick moving, the other on its back looking dead (without knowing yet that it definitely was dead), I thought it looked to be the larger one that looked dead, and the smaller one that was surviving. Maybe they came to the same conclusion.

It would probably be better for them to be closer in age...but that is a real shame, the older chick was being fed and looked healthy.

Melbourne, FL

Saw the two babies this morning, but the mother was calling for food and the male never came. Anybody see them get any food so far today?

PERTH, Australia

Both adult birds are on the nest now, with fish

PERTH, Australia

The male (noticeably smaller) just flew off.

Melbourne, FL

Must have been a quick meal. Hope they got fed well.

He came back a couple of times. The headless fish was/is at the top left of the nest and she ignored it and went back to sitting on the chicks whilst rearranging some sticks. I didn't see them being fed.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

No headless fish there now, so they must've eaten it

A lengthy update on the site now, seems there was (as i suspected) a long gap in the food supply on 20th, but more has been 'delivered' since

I sure hope things go well from now on....

thanks Resin they look well feed now.

They're being fed now as well

I finally saw the chicks this morning! Dad brought in a fish and mom fed both of them.

Both chicks look well today.

There seems to be no adult in the nest right now. Are the chicks old enough to be left alone?

** One just showed up. **

I am just not getting a good feeling about this nesting.....

Can't see it any more, I just get redirected to an advertising page asking for donations.

I get that but I am able to get to the cam if I click on the link to Cam 1

You now have to click on the play button to for it to work. The chicks are clearly very hungry and crying....

Will they shut this down if things go bad?

I tried that - that's when it just sent me back to the advert page

OH Dear....how come it works for me but not for you????

Mom has left the nest again, I assume in search of food. This is very distressing to watch!

Melbourne, FL

I click at the bottom left where it says "click here for osprey cam" or something to that effect. The male is not providing adequate food for whatever reason, and they are not updating very much...I think they are not feeling too optimistic on this either.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Try this Resin...

yes you have to click here for Osprey Cam....and then click play button.

I quit watching it so much a few days back already. I couldn't take how the mother seemed to feed only herself and the oldest chick most often, and the little guy didn't get fed very much.

Did something happen to the father, or is he still around sometimes?

Melbourne, FL

The fish is always brought by the male...I'm not sure he's brought fish today.
