more kind of "low-profile"
Spring peeking Vol. 2
WOW, What a beautiful display.
Very pretty everyone! I want them all, and I want them now. LOL
Clay those T. sylvestris are interesting, I usually stay away from tulips as they decline in a few years, daffs are my thing. Start with a few and they keep multiplying.
Holly love the orange/yellow tulips.
Need to get pictures today.
Does your garden look this good all summer long with other plants blooming? This is enchanting. Thanks for sharing. B.
Claypa, you make me want to come back to PA to live. But, I am here in NJ and have a small greenhouse with tropicals and house plants. But, I have my old fashion garden plants only they are in a field and I cut them for florists. They are a collection of daffodils that I have put together over the past 5 years. Here they are in the field.
I have taken a few new pictures of "stuff'......
Here are a couple of my, long awaited, Tahiti Daffodils blooming. This is only their second year.....I bought the bulbs from Rawlings 3 years ago when they were selling the previous year's bulbs they used in their Spring Show.....
I did not get enough to complete the circle around my Wintersweet Shrub.....Need 2 more...
They are so pretty--and are multiplying.....
These Daffs. are a bit later blooming and were a HUGE clump in my small front bed. Man! Do they multiply!!!!!
When i had to make room to build my elevated bed for my "Karomo Shukibu" Azalea (soon to burst into bloom--I sure WILL post pictures!), I had to dig up clumps of this daffodil and find other places for it so the elevated planter would fit in the space i needed.
I love these Daffs--they last a long time--frustrating me when i want to plant annuals in that area--but they are so pretty--and I had to spread them around and now will have other places for me to be frustrated about......:o)
Do not know the name of them---and i don't really care!
This is a small clump of fragrant Daffs. which is right next to the clumped-blooming ones I posted before...The VERY fragrant ones.....
Now--these also have a nice fragrance--but they are not as clumped in blooms as the other ones.....I don't really know where they came from?????
Besides--these ended up being below my Chrysanthemum Pacificum that has now been growing in this spot and competing with each other.....
I look at it and I think------"Hmmm! I need to dig up the new shoots of the Chr. Pac. and root them and plant them somewhere else......" as they both are in my "YUK" bed and neither of them will thrive for long.....
Here is my forever struggling "Proteus" Clematis that has been overshadowed by my HUGE KK Hibiscus, which i dug up and moved last Summer.....
This Clematis will now make it--i am sure! Now--in front of it, will be the oriental Regale Lilies I bought, and planted last year--the ones I SO loved from Latvia.....
Theu will not have the HUGE root systems that the KK had to choke it out.....
Gital, I love your Tahiti Daffodils. BTW do you have any cutting from the KK
Holly,,
I have NO cuttings if my KK Hibiscus! I just recently read that they can be propagated from cuttings--as they DO NOT make any seeds. Well--since I moved my only one last Summer--i will have to give it at least another year to settle in and dazzle anyone.
Also-These do NOT make seeds--as they are hybrids.
I think theTahiti Daffs are now available for sale....???
Gita
It reminds me of a Corydalis, maybe C. solida. I see you have lots of those mustard garlic seedlings too, they're everywhere this year.
To answer your question, there are some things that will bloom as the perennials come up around the tulip's foliage, irises, alliums, etc., but most of the stuff in this bed doesn't start blooming until June, I'd guess. It's packed pretty full, it's hard to find room for much of anything. I might dig up these hybrid tulip bulbs this summer and store them.
JBerger, if I had that much room I'd forget all about PA or any other nice place I've lived!
Clay, thanks. I knew there was somebody here who knew the name of this plant. Now all I have to do is get the pink-flowered one.
Gitagal, they are absolutely lovely daffys and I think their name is Mon Cherie..if not, who cares...they are still pretty and you are lucky to have them. Happy Spring Everyone. And, thanks for the kind words. I am 80 years old and holding. Love Spring Time. JB
JB, my friend - you made your way over to our thread. BIG ole welcome to you!!! She's a great gal for those that haven't "met" her before!!
Chris - how do you like buffalo current? I'd just recently heard about it.

Chantell, I am not sure how I got here except something must have caught my eye and here I am. I am like a bad penny. I just pop up all over the place. O.K. what is buffalo current? Anything like "chips"? Isn't it AuntB who helps keep the herd of buffalo...how did I get on to this?
I am just out of my mind today. Wind and rain again. I mean wind big time. Now I have something else to about.
Nahhh not a bad penny...mercy!! You oughta come on out and meet everyone at the next get together: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/956527/
Those get togethers sound great but not for this old gal. I pretty much stay in the area and am just happy I am able to be as active as I am here. My family lives in PA and I seldom get up there. With birds and dogs here it is difficult for us all to leave. Someone always must stay home. The kids both have jobs that keep them on the move 24/7 and so guess who takes care of the stock. LOL. Thank God we have gotten rid of the poultry, steers, sheep and donkeys. It was fun but NO MORE. Just parrots and dogs. LOL.
Have a great day. I am going to pout because of the weather. JB
Chantell, the Buffalo Current is not much of a looker, but the scent is out of this world, sort of spicy, an allspice scent. The scent is carried by the breeze across the yard so you don't have to be on top of it to appricate it. I was going to cut off a few pieces to bring to Holly's swap if anyone wants to root some.
I remembered it as a kid and got a piece from a friend that passed away. I was so excited to find it in her yard.
Chantelle--LOVE the close-up shot of your Lily-of-the-Valley!!!!
Those water drops just make it cuter! You must have been laying on your tummy to take that one!
Chantell the lillies of the valley are so adorable. I can smell them. Yes I can too!
Mine are not even an inch high yet. I cant seem to grow them. Too much sun I guess. I planted some in the shade last year and they seem to be starting to come up. I hope they make it. The drops of water on the lillies is perfect. JB
