A neighbor's yard art.
Spring peeking Vol. 2
Ummm you sure that's yard "art?" LOL Nice contrast of red and green though, I must say!
Yes, I love my Lilly of the Valley (although just realized that photo's a tad blurred...ugh) - one or two of ya'll were kind enough to share with me a few swaps ago and look how purdy they are!!! I'd heard they're not too fond of sun so they went under the dwarf magnolia and seem to like it there...they have the Sweet Charlotte violas (in front of them) and the Poet's Jasmine (behind) for sweet smelling company!
LOL Stormyla, That's not yard art, that is a topiary form.
That High to Low should be submitted to the cell phone co that does the commercials. You know the ones where they talk about having more bars in more areas.
Storm, what great pictures! The tulip just could not make up its mind, Hummmm Red or white? Why not a bit of each!
Holly, You're the third person who said that about the cell phone. Maybe I'll look into it. LOL! You're right it is a topiary, only it's all wrapped around the undercarriage of the van and comes out the other side and continues across the grass. I dare not sneek over there and tuck some up in the door jamb...........
Lady, sounds like you're describing my state of mind lately!! Chantell, you certainly have an eye for beauty!
This photo was taken last Thursday.
Lady, you are so sweet and so is that lovely bed. I must add some blues to mine. I love those daffs. That bed of mine along the road is 150 feet long and is terribly windy. My bigger bed, 250' goes across the back of the property. I've had all sorts of people stop and talk to me thiese past few days as I've been working out there. Dogwalkers, joggers, cyclists and several people have come around the corner and parked and stopped, 2 with cameras. Another person put photos in my mail box. Aren't people great??
This is a view from the opposite end. It's 100' from the rocks to that butterfly bench. The flag pole is my neighbor's and is about 200' from the edge of the bed.
The daff is Salome, the trumpet starts out yellow and then changes to a orangey-pink I really love it. Here is a link to plant files for a closer look.

Storm, those pictures are beautiful. What a lovely garden and sooooo well cared for. You are one good gardner. Thanks for sharing. Looks like you live on a main highway or at least a busy street. I bet the people do love to look at your garden. Nice. JB
Jen, your flowers are beautiful. How are you managing to keep them so nice with all this rain. I am afraid to go out and look at the daffodils. I will be cutting tomorrow for sales again and I would almost bet my new tooth that I will get very few flowers that are acceptable to sell because of last nights storms and the night before and the night before. They have just been beating the heck out of the outside plants. Christmas trees are loving it, but plants are not. I have not been able to plant any seedlings yet because the field is so wet. What is the pretty little yellow flower? the last one you posted. It looks so adorable.
My hyacinths all got knocked over by the rains....everything else is amazingly holding up...
The yellow cinquefoil is potentilla neumanianna.
Where do you sell your plants?
Early bloomers... little Daffs from Neal (Gemini_sage) blooming around Mimosa; other daffs in this bed are 'Ice Follies' & an unknown "yellow jonquil for naturalizing" from Breck's. Now these are finishing, and I've got 'Geranium' and 'Yellow Cheerfulness' daffs starting in the island bed. There's supposed to be a little "river" (rivulet? LOL) of Muscari latifolium curving down the center of this island bed, but they haven't been doing well for me... might try putting in a lot of regular grape hyacinths next year instead...
NICE, Critter I love that daff bed.
Your daffodils are wonderful. Don't you just love them. So many different varieties to choose from. I started to add some weird ones to my collection a few years ago. The one in the picture attached it called Rip van Winkle and it looks like a dandilion flower until you take a closer look and you can see it is not. You would never know it was a daffodil if it was not marked. They come in real green and turn a brilliant yellow.
Gita, I think they are Salomes, I just love mine.
Aren't these all just wonderful? Thanks so much for sharing all your beauties. They make me feel so much better when I look outside at the rain. LOL Have a great day . Stay dry and cool and warm or whatever fits your area. Hugs. JB
Thank you, Jberger. I'd love to play in your Daff field, that RipVW is so cute.
Critter, your bed is gorgeous. How long has it taken to get that full?
Jen, beautiful photos.
Gita, Those Tahitis are really nice.
I don't mark every clump of Daffs when there are multiple clumps of 1 variety and now am having trouble distinguishing some of them. Don't want the work to overpower the enjoyment of the gardens. Seems like Daffs could use their own thread.
I started one on cut flowers and floral arrangements but I do not remember the link. LOL
It was daffodils at JBs Plants, but that is all I remember. What can I say? JB
I've been stuffing bulbs and DLs into that island bed for a few years now, maybe 5?... if I'd known the bulb timing better, I'd have been able to do it faster. Initially, I had early blooming yellow daffs in back and late blooming Geranium (little bicolor) daffs in front. Added the Ice Follies in front (early bicolor/ white) and got the Yellow Cheerfulness for the back (late little yellow), filled in some others as I went along. I thought I'd put more ice follies around the far end last year, but they came up later and look different, a bit peachy actually (ugh! not a peach person).
It's easier to come up with an overall design of early, mid, and late season blooms and then plant the whole bed at once, in layers, like the Keukenhof does it. :-)
I feel like doing a "Chloe" - jumping up and down and clapping my hands in glee...LOVIN' all the blooms...better then any drug
My haul today! Sally came over and we went plant shopping......
As usual--i spent a lot of money---now ALL the work to plant them all!!! Glad we have a summery weekend ahead....
Here is the haul--from 4 different places. Covered it all up with a sheet for tonight as it is supposed to be really windy and temps in the upper 30's.
Good grief! APRIL!!!! Will you give it up already?????? "tis time!!!!
Gita
