Garden Design Program?

Ozark, MO(Zone 6a)

I searched for "garden layout program" on Google and came up with several free downloadable programs.

It seems to me I've seen this mentioned here before. Does anyone lay out their vegetable garden using a (free) computer program, and could you recommend one? I thought Dave's Garden might have one on this site, but I haven't been able to find it.

What I need is real simple. My veggie garden is 50' x 35' and I just want to figure out all the locations, spacing, and rows that I'm going to plant. I like to change the way my garden is laid out every year so I'm not growing things exactly where the same species grew the year before. I usually figure this out with graph paper and a pencil, but it would be nice to do it on the computer.

It's gotta be a free program for me, though, or I'll be back to paper and pencil. Thanks.

If you find one definately post it. I'd love to see something like that on DG, or anywhere for that matter=)

This one isn't free (free 45 day trial, but then you have to subscribe to continue using it), but it is far and above the best one I tried. You can put in individual plants, whole rows, or blocks of all the same plant. Take a look and see what you think. I found it worth the money, and got a kick out of being able to track my harvests, too, to help decide what did well, and what I should skip this year.

Jan Recchio wrote a whole series of articles on gardening software, which is how I found PlanGarden. You might browse through these, and see what is helpful:
