But you have to consider that I was shooting through this
Awful Pics Vol. 8
Nice secure nest site!
Resin
Oh how sweet is that. Typical mom! Encouraging the youngun to fledge, but she's watching, watching every step of the way! LOL.
that's a hilarious nest site!
We, hubby and I woke up to this sight early this morning before the sun came out! Do you think we can qualify our yard for natural habitat? The mallard, squirrel, and what type of bird is that that just follows the duck and the 2 seem to get along just fine. It's our nextdoor neighbor's portion of the yard, but we'd like to claim it ours for the time being. lol.
Lily, I'm sure you could qualify for a wildlife habitat! Nice waxwing silhouette too. As to your earlier question, my Lady Banks rose only blooms once a year, but it started in Feb., so almost two months of blooms. I enjoy it and the feeling of spring it brings. It's the only once bloomer rose that I have and you're right it's completely thornless and totally disease free.
Gardenglory, that is a totally cool nest! I imagine that you are not using the light. I guess you won't be able to use it all summer. Do they have the second brood in the same nest?
While I'm posting, I'm sure I have a bad pic to share. This goldfinch was so pretty and almost in focus.
Your right, this is their second year in it. And your also right, I have not used that front light for over a year. Im scared to death its going to catch on fire, I didnt think they would use it twice. Now I m in a bind, I want my light, but I hate to think they were planning on that next year.
Maybe clean it out and then around nesting time if you left the light on all the time it might discourage them....just a guess.
GG, this spring I have a pair of Phoebe that built their nest just right atop of my floodlight. We too have disable the light for the duration for the birds' sake. lol. It's going to be a chore to cleanhouse for us, since the site is way above our reach (nearby the rooftop).
Elphaba, I've a little lily-pon bucket sits in the back yard. I promise I saw a goldfinch bathing there the other the day, when I ran and grabed my camera and all I've gotten is some hand trovel with a yellow handle. I questioned my vision ever since. lol.
LOL Lily! You have no idea how many pictures I've taken of big yellow leaves!
I love this thread! I get angry at myself for taking such crappy pictures when I look at the other threads! But. when I look at these pics I don't feel quite so bad!
Rose
Oh, and thanks for the nice words about the vulture.
who minds what it is, it's still a nice little bird!
SMM, I'm glad you don't! 'Cause I love them. :-)
It's hard when there's so much around it Iris. Looks like it might have focused on the branches in back of it. Maybe next time try focusing on a branch thats very close to the bird.
Of course try focusing on the bird in another pic too. :-)
That is a cute squirrel pic Lily!
I shot this Tufted Titmouse through the window unfortunately in shadow against a light background. Had to do a lot of post-processing. At first I thought she was getting some of the liner from a wrought iron planter but then I remember I had put some of my dogs hair out there!
Here is bad pic # 1
Grasmussen: you should have taken a picture of the other end!!!!
Luvs, that's so sweet. Love is in the air!!! So they've said, lol. I was just now watching my finches antics, and not only here, but where you're they pair up like so. Isn't it so so cute? Look like the pair just 'chillin' out, or just catch up with some sun bathing after some cool temp.?
LOL! Good one Ken!
Oh my...that is bad!!! LOL
haha, thats what I usually get with Titmouse.
Those TT are so lovable, I usually hear them before they arrive at the feeder. :-)
