I started several things from seed this year. Some are already being transplanted into pots. Which of these will need pinching.....and when?
Campanula medium Canterbury Bells
Nigella damascena Love In A Mist
Salvia Coral Nymph
Shasta Daisy Alaska
Snow In Summer
Agastache rupestris
Forget Me Not Heavenly Blue
Echinacea tennesseensis
Campanula sibirica
Penstemon pinifolius
Foxglove Alba
I appreciate your help. I'm new to starting seeds and I keep reading about pinching back growth to make the plants bushier/stronger.
Who needs a pinch????
The only one I see that would be a candidate for pinching back is the Shasta Daisy, but that only my opinion. And wait until they're about a foot tall with branching becoming evident. By then they'll be in the ground ?
Mini,
How long did it take for your Snow In Summer to sprout? I'm starting some to use as ground cover and was curious. Too bad it won't bloom until next year :-{
Nature,
They took anywhere from 5 days to 3 weeks. I kept a seed diary and the first batch took 3 weeks, the second batch just 5 days. Not sure why as the conditions were unchanged.
Hmmm, interesting. That's quite a difference in germination times. Thanks for letting me know--I won't be quick to throw mine into the compost if they take three weeks to sprout.
