how to get a start from my Rose of Sharon

Chillicothe, OH

I just bought a house on Sharon Rd. and I have one Rose of Sharon in my yard. I would like to get several starts from it and make a boarder of them on one side of our property. How would you suggest I go about it? I am very new to this gardening stuff but trying.
Thanks for your time and help

I may be wrong so wait for others to comment, but I think you can take a cutting and put it in root hormone and sandy soil and root that way. I love ROS's they are so pretty, the only downside is the darn bees they attract...

The cutting method you suggested should work. I expect rooting it in potting soil would work also. Thank you for not suggesting rooting it IN WATER!

They also freely reseed. My daughter had several nice healthy seedlings in her yard a couple of years ago so I dug up the best looking one which was about two feet tall at the time. Now it's about 5 feet tall. It bloomed beautifully last year. It's just waking up this year.
