I bought a bag of 30 Lof the V (at a very reputable garden store) and I think they've sprouted in the bag. They look to have a great root system, but some have sprouts of 3-4 inches and are pale...very white. Some actually have extensions with what looks like Pea hulls which I guess are the flowers waiting to bloom.
My question: it says to plant them 2 inches...do I plant the roots but keep the neck up? out of the soil?
Help with Lily fo the Valley
Sorry I can't help you but I found someone that probably can. D-mail MissFabulous and see if she can help. Smokey
Smokey - thanks, but another question. I'm new to DG and don't know how to email directly? Help?
Once you get them planted (I'd follow the packaging instructions) they will green up with sunshine. It will take 4 or 5 days, but you'll see them green up a little each day. I'm not familiar with Nile's, they may still need protection in extreme weather. The sooner you plant them the better.
Thanks, Sunshine...may be a dumb question...you refer to Nile's in your answer. What are Niles?
Sorry, thought I saw Nile Lily somewhere.....need more coffee
Don't know what kind of garden you have, but lily of the valley can be quite invasive in a perennial garden. 'Pink?' one is less vigorous. Find it easier to dig it out on sandy soil than clay soil. A 'bag' and 'great root system' might suggests it grows pretty fast. Probably, however, makes a good ground cover.
