Dust Storm
March Blooms VII - the 2nd!
Thanks Gail,
That helps a lot! I needed to use a darker backround.I also need to learn how to use things like manual focus, landscape, portrait, etc.

Pretty Lynn--Wild Irish Rose is one of my favorite Streps and favorite AV's
We are having a nice north wind right now with 39 degrees; but that's another story. This pic is of Ma's Toxic Spill which has had one bloom. This sprout on the side looks a little odd. I read about this one other time and I forgot what you called it. Will it get a bloom at the end of this? Is it like a sucker? Cheryl
Everyone's blooms are so pretty! I've been catching up on posts. Had family company for a few days, and no time for computer. We were busy trying to straighten out our genealogy link. We're cousins, ? removed. I don't really understand how that works. But we had some good laughs and had a great time. Now it's time to get back to my baby plants. I see one of my leaf babies is pushing up a flower, strep leaves from Gail are still looking good. Can't wait to see babies on them. And the two Chrysothemis have buds. Can't wait to see the flowers.
Pretty Red Gail...is that bloom waving at Jim?^_^
Jan,
I also have the Wild Irish Rose AV.It hasn't bloomed yet. It's a tiny baby, but I've seen a full grown one and it was a beauty!
Cheryl, that looks like a bloom stem to me.
Gail,
The color on the two AVs is dead on,but I took the Strep. picture under lights.I will keep practicing.Right now my priority is making sure I don't lose any plants...LOL. So far I have not killed anything, although my leaves are not always as pretty as others.
I should have wicking trays this week, which will help because I still have to run the furnace and it really drys out the air.
Did anyone see my post about the AV problem? I'm very curious about what caused this.
Lynn
i can't find a post about an av problem (LOL)........so I can't help. Is it on this thread?
great pictures everyone!! my satellite modem croaked-- so I will be AWOL unless I am at the library. Cross your fingers that the new one gets here quick!!
Gail,
Thanks, but I think I solved the problem. The grower had wicked the plant up the center and wrapped the string twice around the rootball.I repotted it and it looks fine now.
Hope to see you back soon Gran!
Hello Ladies and Gents,
Are we going to have an April forum? If not I will post a few pictures here...
Hugs,
Susan
I think people are waiting to get new blooms . . . maybe . . . ^_^
You can start the April one, Susan!
Yes,Susan! Start us off with some of your beauties ^_^.
Lynn
I don't know how to do that...LOL
Hugs,
Susan
Details please^_^
I found this somewhere on line. Mix 1/4 tsp epsom salts with 1 quart water. Once a month drench the plant and let it drain. The magnesium is good for the plant; and the salts help clean out the salts in the soil. I even did the leaves I'm TRYING to grow.
It's gorgeous Sally!
Lynn
Sally, that Pink Feathers is georgeous!
ooohh-that pink on pink is gorgeous!!!
I love Pink Feathers! So pretty Sally! Good to see you! ^_^
MW--How can you tell after one day that they love it? I am very interested in the outcome of this regimen.
They just kinda perk up!! :-)
Some folks have used Epsom Salts for years on their plants. My dear mother in law used to swear by it and she was a fantastic gardener, her plants always looked outstanding. There's a couple of fertilizer recipe's that have been going around that have Epsom Salts as one of the ingredients. I've got all the ingredients but still haven't mixed them up to try it. I've never tried Epsom Salts on my plants, but I don't think it can hurt anything.
Found this when googling: http://www.puyallup.wsu.edu/~Linda%20Chalker-Scott/Horticultural%20Myths_files/Myths/Epsom%20salts.pdf
Sally, Pink Feathers is beautiful. I just got a leaf of her in the mail.
I didn't read Lin's site yet, but magnesium gets tied up in the soil very easily and epsom salts cause it to be released I think. I have always used epsom salts on my outside plants, but never on the inside plants........I also spray mixed in water epsom salts and ammonia (sulfur) on the yard through a 2gallon sprayer.......
now I will read what Lin provided (LOL)
Gail,
I am like you.Epsom salts are wonderful for Roses and other outdoor plants, but I am not sure about indoors.I know that years ago I used them on AVs.I also used something called a "hot water method" to make stubborn plants bloom and a "Clorox treatment" for insects, but I would have to go through many old journals before I would recommend these to any of you!!..LOL.
