The Evening Grosbeaks came back this afternoon.

My dirty Hairy, a few feet away from me. I was enjoying the sun on the deck, when he flew in and sat on the branch in front of me.

I envy all of you east coast people for the bug eater populations that you have. Meanwhile, back here on the other coast we are happy with the residents we have, too. Had about 12 inches of snow last night (hear it is headed East!) and the newly arrived hummers are not particularly happy about it. They are not all back, but this male Rufus was hungry, so fluffed up against the cold and mostly sat and ate.
My Oregon juncos are all still here, but I expect most of them to be leaving soon. A few stay and nest here. Not much action this week, kind of between the migrations. Should expect summer residents soon.

PNWMountaingirl, Nice feeder, and hummer. Poor thing must be confused with all the snow. We're expecting about 8" tonight and tomorrow. Still have plenty of snow on the ground.
