Daily pics #195

Yes, Rose, they are so sweet. I think mine is bored. She is ready to lay but the temperatures are in the low 50's. With the wind, it seems much colder.

Lots of this going on lately.

Here is an early morning visitor. We have several pairs nesting behind the house.

That one of the BB's is too sweet! Lucky you to have the Robin's nesting so close and hope we get lots of baby pics from you Dave!

Here is my beautiful Mama! I am concerned about the eggs since our weather is supposed to get down to freezing! I think the Blues jumped the gun and laid while we were having mock-spring temps! I will probably try and insulate the box to protect the eggs. Last year the first clutch of 4 died at a few days old and I think it may have been the low temps! With Blues it is always something....but they are worth it!!

Dave, isn't it funny how different our female look? Yours looks very young to me...and so beautiful. You are lucky to have the nestbox so close and can't wait to see the fledges peeking out of the hole!

Here is the female Purple Finch.

I am amazed at how different they can look in different situations. Sometimes slim, sometimes fluffy and round. Right now she looks so docile but then you see her take on a starling twice her size.

Here is another shot when she was hiding in the pear tree.

Thank you, One Wish and Dellrose. Dellrose, I like the shots of your Bluebirds. Dave's photos are, as usual, excellent. Duchbucin, I get "that look" quite often from the Thrush when I have to bring in "his" suet cake. That's such a cute little swallow. Neither of those birds have ever visited us, so I appreciate your sharing your pics.

What an incredible thread this is. The photos are so artsy with those beautiful pear blossoms! Lovely.

This photo isn't so great but I thought you could share my grief that this Louisiana iris decided to bloom right below this branch. Everytime a bird lands on it like this Robin or the wind blows it gets thrashed. There's another bud coming up right behind it too. Oh well.

A beautiful pic of both the Iris and the Robin. Thanks, Elphaba.

Thanks wbbirdwoman, but you are way too kind on both counts!

I was tempted to wait a bit longer so Dave could get some more well deserved ooohs and ahhhs, but then I thought some of y'all might be waiting for the new thread.

We're moving the show to: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/966872/
