I made the mistake of letting enthusiasm override common sense and went to Herdsman's Lake, a large, permanent wetland at about midday yesterday. Bad time for lighting. Lots of birds around, including these Glossy Ibis, which I either haven't seen or haven't noticed before. They would have to be the most nervous and wary birds I've come across and not long after I took this shot they exploded into the air. (Something like your Downy, Nanny).

Been seeing Grakles, Brown-headed Cowbirds, and Red-winged Black bird in the yard, lately. Less Redpolls, and Grosbeaks.

Niw I know spring is really here...heard a towhee singing last night and this morning!!! Funny how so many birds are hear during the winter but we don't hear them. But then slowly bird by bird the choir grows! It so interesting to really pay attention to these things!!

Let's see...all I got that I haven't already posted... Common Grackle for me too! I think this is Mrs. Ed's inspiration for her hypno-eyes....(and I ain't gonna explain that!!)

Dellrose, your finches and sparrow are so cute and I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing your Cardinals. Love that woodpecker picture too-really a clear shot!

Rose, spectacular as always. Love the tongue, Duc. Dirt, those are some cute juncos lined up there.

Well after almost 2 months with no common redpolls, one showed up today. No doubt headed back north. It's very windy today, difficult to get a decent picture.
