I made the mistake of letting enthusiasm override common sense and went to Herdsman's Lake, a large, permanent wetland at about midday yesterday. Bad time for lighting. Lots of birds around, including these Glossy Ibis, which I either haven't seen or haven't noticed before. They would have to be the most nervous and wary birds I've come across and not long after I took this shot they exploded into the air. (Something like your Downy, Nanny).

I was shooting through trees to get this Oriole.

Been seeing Grakles, Brown-headed Cowbirds, and Red-winged Black bird in the yard, lately. Less Redpolls, and Grosbeaks.

Great stuff happening out there! Today I went birding for the first time this year. I saw lots of swans, common mergansers, and these hooded mergansers. He's got his hood tucked down.

Here is a Common Grackle from yesterday.

Niw I know spring is really here...heard a towhee singing last night and this morning!!! Funny how so many birds are hear during the winter but we don't hear them. But then slowly bird by bird the choir grows! It so interesting to really pay attention to these things!!

Let's see...all I got that I haven't already posted... Common Grackle for me too! I think this is Mrs. Ed's inspiration for her hypno-eyes....(and I ain't gonna explain that!!)

Here is the female Eastern Bluebird in the feeder cage...she is eating for six!

The newest feeder is very popular with the Finches...here is a female Purple.

Well after almost 2 months with no common redpolls, one showed up today. No doubt headed back north. It's very windy today, difficult to get a decent picture.
