I'll keep you posted, who'd have thought pink blossoms? I was thinking yellow or orange, but pink? A nice, if tiny surprise.
Thanks you guys for getting me going.

lookin' good, SW---the plants all seem very happy!

I love succulents!!!! My Grandma gave me my first ones over 30 years ago. She is gone now but she sure would love today's selections.
Glad to come across others who appreciate the beauty of them!
BTW, a friend of mine has a great Medusa plant in a head vase, I will have to get a pic next time I go there. Perfect combination me thinks.

Great photo parade Geoff, thanks!! Mine are all looking good too, and I know the heat of summer will ruin many.

I just bought this at my favorite nursery. It didn't have a name on it and the girl at the register was new and didn't know what it was. I know what it is......it's COOL! If anyone knows off hand what it is tell me. I can put it on the plant ID forum if not. Mostly I just wanted to show it off.

edited to say:
It has little yellow flowers on it that have opened now. Really Cool!

palmbob, you must have an incredible array of blooms right now. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. You are so right DP, love that succulent too. If a piece accidently breaks off, save it for me, please? Can't blame you a bit for showing it off.

I'm sure a few pieces will find their way to the RU in October.

DesertPirate: your plant is Delosperma echinatum (also called a Pickle cactus or Pickle Plant)
robcorreia: your Puya is alpestris

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

rob, that plant (which I'd never heard of) looks more like a sculpture than something living! Thanks for posting----very VERY cool!!

and PalmBob, thanks for posting which Puya it is so I know what to put on my (ever-lenthening) want list....!

Ima, yes, it's very unique! And I must say the picture DOES NOT make it justice! The blooms are truly of a mettalic color, like a metallic turquoise, it's nuts!

San Diego, CA(Zone 10b)

Palmbob, thanks for id'ing it!

Below is one of the gazillion pics I took at my neighborhood's garden walk. Believe it or not, this was this guy's hellstrip planting! I was literally in awe at this person's succulents collection.

He also had an INCREDIBLE collection of bromeliads. But that's for a different forum! ; )

Wow, just fabulous!! I am so inspired now for my 'hellstrip'! Great combination of textures and colors, each one so distinctly separated. Is that a juniper in the last photo?

Gilroy (Sunset Z14), CA(Zone 9a)

Spectacular! Thanks for posting, rob!

Fremont, CA(Zone 9a)

WOW! Now I really am suffering from zone envy!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Thanks palmbob. I appreciate that.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

What does "hellstrip" mean? I live on a farm, I'm ignorant of city slang. Great photos, rob!
Say does anyone know what kind of cactus this is? I found it flowering and fruiting way out in the middle of no place, on a private ranch in central CA. It has pink blossoms, and yellow (now) fruit. There were a couple of bunnies hanging out underneath it. Never seen it as dry there, as this year.
Will send close up of flower and fruit.
