I was thinking I used too much mustard... maybe a thinner coating would be better... I was having a hard time getting it to stick because the ham was so hot it was sort of melting... and the directions did say liberal coat of it... so I am thinking a thinner coating of that won't sog up the ginger snaps
Hey Good Lookin' : Part Two (Or, Whatcha Got Cookin'??)
Mmmm---we are having Easter at son's--my job is to make kugli---hand grate 4 pounds of potatoes! But my nephew is coming from the Bronx, & it's his fav.
Robin, thank you about wheat lasagna. Stop and Shop is where I buy my groceries but here they do not have it available there.
My Mom's Stop & Shop doesn't have it either, & it's about 15 miles from mine! I guess every store is a little different, but if you ask, they'll sometimes get it for you.
We were supposed to have bison burgers but hubby grabbed a pack of ground turkey instead. He was so impatient and didn't give me a chance to pull some turkey burger recipes, so he started doing them like regular burgers...YUCK!!! He put in steak sauce...HELLO!!!! are we having steak??? NO it's turkey...ugh....they were the worst burgers I ever had.
Edited for spelling

So sorry, Jen. Next time make a little hole in the turkey burger and add crumbled cooked bacon and some cheese and close up the hole and make a regular burger. Very good. DH loved them, so did mom. We don't use much beef since she moved in 10 years ago. Mostly chicken, turkey or pork.
If he would have had a little patience, they would have tasted MUCH better.
That does look yummy!!! Fresh spinach?
Frozen spinach I'm afraid. I buy the "Europe's Best" brand and we find it better than fresh.
Good to know, thanks.
3G - that does look good!
Jen - tonight we had a pretty tasty "faux jambalaya" with turkey sausage, and it was very easy and got a good review from my DH. I cooked the turkey sausage (then removed it and sliced it) drained the juice except for about a tablespoon, to which I added chopped onion and 3 cloves of garlic. When the onion was barely soft, I added the sausage slices back in. Then I poured in a can of diced tomatoes with green chiles, a can of low-sodium corn and a can of black beans. I let it all simmer with the lid on for about 20 minutes and then served it over brown rice in a bowl with some of the juice as well. It made enough for more meals too.
Better than fresh?!! Really?
Really truly...
Madly, deeply?
oh yea...
I don't even bother planting spinach in the garden anymore...and my Mom who hates spinach with a passion tasted this stuff and now I have to buy it for her too.
Is that a Canadian brand? Wonder if I can find it here.
Europe's Best? Doubt it's a Canadian brand...unless we've drifted East...
I meant availability. Anyway, I consider Canada part of Europe...
hehehe...
looks yummy 3
Turkey burgers taste great with lots of chopped garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, feta cheese, & capers. I also make meatballs that way, & sometimes add spinach, but fresh---frozen is watery, but that Europe's Best brand looks good.
Hubby brought home the kielbasa(both smoked and fresh) for Sunday....man does it smell good. Also bought a cheese babka.
I'm also making a pork roast. Apple cake from Tastefully Simple for dessert.
What's everyone else having for Easter dinner?
Ham and fresh string beans.................because im craving it!!
Just another day here too...might have ordered a pizza but the pizza place burned down...
Ham, cabbage, baked potatoes, salad and some other veggie. My mom will do the baking. Cheese cake. Not sure what else. We won't have many people - good!
I'll take it!!
I love banana cream pie!!!
Looks yummy, Celeste!
Thanks, DH said it was wonderful and his buddy agreed, they ate half of it between the 2 of them!
Mmmm Banana Cream Pie ..... yours does look good!
I just got back from the butcher with some fresh kielbasa ready to go for Sunday.
We have a long-standing tradition of going to "The Broadway Market" http://broadwaymarket.org/history.htm that started in 1888 in the then Polish dominated part of town. Quite an interesting history.
We get all the typical Polish fixings, including the butter lamb and a lot of fresh ground horseradish, etc. The girls, ahem, ladies all go to get it all blessed on us.
The market has been on the verge of bankruptcy from mismanagement in the past but starting to pick up again.
Fresh ground horseradish...that'll clear up the sinuses.
We're having hubby's bro and sis and their spouses over. His Dad and wife will be over for dessert.
Oh yeah making cole slaw and steamed asparagus also.
mil i smaking ham and i bring the lamb, wife will make creamed onions, and the normal sides. oh and wine:)
Don't forget the fresh made hot cross buns!
When y'all do lamb...is it rack of lamb? or lamb chops? How do you prepare it?
leg of lamb for easter
Yes, Mom did a leg of Lamb also with mint jelly I believe. YUK!
not into to mint jelly - rosemary and as much garlic as there is in the house:)
while shopping at costco today they had a cart set up giving out lamb samples.... it wasn't bad at all
