Hope you wear a helmut, Deb.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 42
Ouch - don't blame you. I had to re-stack a portion of my pile the other day and my back was killing me afterward, And that was only about 1/4 cord or so.
Sherrie - don't hurt your back before garden planting time!!! LOL
Victor - cool plane shot!
I currently don't wear a helmet, but looked at some today. A couple weeks ago, the conditions were rotten, I took a hard fall, and had a huge lump and bruise on my right knee, and a bruise about 1" wide from my hip all the way to my knee on the left. Landed lengthwise on my ski edge.
Will look into end of season sales for a helmet. I don't go fast - I'm too off balance for that.
Ouch! Don't have to be going real fast to whack your head pretty good.
I know. I'm buying a bike helmet this year too. Guess I'm getting old. But that's a good thing.
I use a helmet when I do ride. My ex brother-in-law's nephew was killed when he was 13. He was hit by a car and was not wearing a helmet.
How about N. richardson not wearing a helmet on the beginner's slope. It should be required for skiing, bikes, horseback riding etc. Everyone needs to protect their brains.
Yes - that's why I asked Deb. Terrible tragedy.
I know
The helmet doesn't necessarily save you, but statistics do have numbers in favor of them. http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/18/richardsons-accident-reignites-ski-helmet-debate/?hp&apage=4
I read up on it too.
Ahelmet could be the difference between a concussion and a more serious injury.
Christopher Reeve's did have a helmet on.... and a chest plate to protect the ribs... like a bullet proof vest... in my opinion because of the vest he had on... his neck had no where to go... vest hit the bottom of the helmet and his neck couldn't go anywhere...
all of those English events require a helmet... he just met up with bad fate... even if he wasn't wearing all that stuff landing head first into the fence and cracking vertebrae .. the only thing that the helmet saved him from is brain damage
it is a shame these things happen... I was never one to wear a helmet on a horse... but on my motorcycle ... always... I only took it off once in Connecticut... we had a police protected bike run and they stopped the traffic for us... and that's the only reason it came off... can't trust those people in cars when you are on a bike... big difference between dirt and asphalt... fence boards and a car... but sometimes bad things happen whether we protect ourselves or not.. just never know
I think cell phone usage in cars is not as bad if it is hands free. I wish they would have a run on pulling people over and issuing ticket/fine for not using the hands free.
Still chilly this morning. 44° with a breeze. The patio seems warmer, so I'll head out back for now.
44 and partly sunny.
44°and felt nice in the sun.....Was beautifully sunny until about 1/2 hour ago when a whole bank of clouds came in from CT. Now it's chilly. Hey Connecticut - keep your clouds to yourselves!.
A quick way to deter cellphone use in a car-a stickshift.
Still wouldn't.
Good idea, Sherrie. I just had someone right up my butt when I was on my way to the airport. Makes me really angry.
Snow showers off and on today.....big old flakes!
so much for being warm today... it says it's 50 with the wind whipping it does not feel like it... good news is we got a whole truck bed full of seasoned firewood for free today... how great is that??
Very chilly breeze.
I want the car horns to sound as loud inside the car as they do outside.
That's for all those people who think blasting their horn is going to make the traffic move any faster.
Sheesh... if you're THAT frustrated, poke pins in your tongue instead. That way, the traffic conditions will be the least of your problems!
Nancy
I agree with that one! It should give a high-voltage shock.
Totally agree on cell phones! Illegal in CT, but I see them every day---our town never has any money---I can think of a way to get some, if our police force left the station once in awhile. Forties today with a stiff wind--sorry I didn't wear a hat walking. Sorry about the bumps & bruises, Debi---I, too, want to see the helmets, esp. on my grandkids---their other grandparents have given them battery-operated ride ons---a train & a John Deere dump cart---one fall is all it takes!
While you were driving with your dog??
