Am I crazy? When did the watchdog ad go up on the right top side of the page?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

no you aren't crazy... that's new

I am still getting over a panic attack.... (well my version of one anyway)... when our company was here yesterday I didn't realize the kids left my back gate open and both dogs ran away... don't ask me why they came back in last night and all this morning... but it took Randy and I split up over a half hour to find both of them .... in one piece ... thank god... it's a good thing my two are cookie crazy... I had the bag with me screaming who wants a cookie.... SIGH... just glad they are both ok... they are so tiny a car might not see them

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Victor I adore the stripey crocus. I need those. I must find those.

Onewish (from last thread) I brought my dahlias in their medium into room temperature 2 weeks ago and they are sproutilicious so all my dahlias are all potted up now in the greenhouse.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

the split is not good - i would get some plant tape - i found some at a local nursery the end of last year - it is like corrugated cardboard obvoiusly thinner - and wrap it tightly around the trunk - i did this to my coral bark the broke in the ice storm - to hold it in place i used some garden twist tie like stuff from HD.

it may heal on it's although doing what i suggested above will help

also post a pic on the jm forum for other advice - i've never had this problem and i'm sure many there have.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

don't worry about the white - all jm's can get a little die back - just trim the white out

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I have 2 different friends that have duck taped woodys back together with great success; one was split and one was broken (the woodys, not the friends although sometimes I wonder). No comment on this technique for fear of upsetting certain gung-ho 'men will be men' peoples.

The rody is in shambles, the dwarf alberta is turning brown and now the JM is split. There must be voodoo in the air.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

This was a brutal winter for freeze/thaw cycles in many places and tough on woodys sigh. I'm afraid to look at my little dogwood :X

Other than veggies last year was basically the 1st year for flowers and stuff. I am getting scared to look at anything.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I agree with Bill. Tape it.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I checked the lilac in case it was starting to bud and needed a stern talking to. A little breakage but not bad all things considering.

Planted one of them - going to look. If I dont come back by tomorrow - I died.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Don't be disheartened. Things will rally with a little TLC.

Back :-) The witch doctor must of not stuck a pin in the lilac.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

LOL Under the protection of the winter fairys.

Lilac luck!

South Hamilton, MA

DH feels that our rhodie cracked piece is too large to repair. It is at least 6 feet in length & over his head so I can't help/ It has buds & we are leaving it in case they bloom before it has to be removed. It looks like the damage came for ice falling off the roof.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Dang Schicken.... that's soooo unfortunate. But, at least the lilac is OK. Is that Bark Split that caused all that bark to come off? I realize what caused the trunk to split.... so sad.

That's too bad about your Rhody too, Iris. I've repaired many a rhody branch before, and rarely is there one that's too large to try to salvage.....with the right amount of tape and stakes! However, sometimes I figure that the pruning was probably due!

today i'm out to replant anything that I've planted since fall since I just noticed late last night that some creature has pushed all the loose dirt away from the plants. I have no idea how long some of these plants have had exposed roots and it's been well below freezing most nights. But, I think/hope that they'll be ok. I want to say a stray cat is the cause, but I'm not ruling out the squirrels either as i have caught them actually playing with small plants that I've planted before. Yep, they've pulled them up and were carrying and kicking them around. I intended to get new garden project done today.... But, oh well.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Victor, I forgot to mention... great pictures. You have two cedrus Silver Mist? that's just not fair :-p Naw, it is.... I don't have room for too many trees in the sunnier spot. Well.... until I start getting rid of some grass anyhow. Which is in my plan, not sure if it's in the owners plan, but I'm hoping that they wont notice!!

Great Willow Allison. what kind is it?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks Shelly. Yes, I have two. And three Cedrus 'Deep Cove'.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

lol..... of course you do! You are the one that does all of the pruning in your yard right?!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Me, myself and I!
