I need help trying to figure out how to landscape one side of my driveway. I thought about terracing it but I'm not sure where to stop as it flattens out and I would like to add some type of seating as everyone in the neighborhood hangs out in their driveways and this is the only area I can add seating. I thought about digging out the area near the steps and making it into a little grotto but to be truthful I'm not very creative and I can't find any ideas/pictures. I would be greatful for any help you could give me.
Landscaping a sloped driveway.
Tima, I'ts a little hard to tell from the 1 pic. but I think you want to start around the third post at the flower bed.I would curve a little, like a half moon. Making it narrower as you come toward the road. Dig out the space level with the drive. Use the same bricks as the flower bed to build a wall. You could use the same or different for a little patio. Put a cute table and chairs on it. Maybe a pot or 2 of flowers. Try using a garden hose to mark your curve. You could stand back and get an idea of how it would look. Hope this helps. Smokey
Do you all sit towards the garage or more out front? There is a lot of earth there. I would be more inclined to create a wall down closer to the street and flatten out more around the mail box. I would curve that wall to the middle post on the stairway. All the dirt you dig out goes to the back fill behind the terrace wall. This way, the flat area follow the contour of the driveway, leaving room for people to get out of the cars and not hit a wall. Decorate with a small arbor, trellis to give some upward decoration.
