No problem Beclu!! You are more than welcome to hijack my thread!

I suggest Ameracauna (if you like blue eggs) or of course, Barnevelder.. LOL

Thank you Claire.. this was fantastic.. :)

Last one hatched....boy....oops.

So, 4 boys, 2 girls. I might share a barnevelder rooster with a friend, if you don't mind.

They all look FAB!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Wow.. I'm still amazed at your results! Even with 4 Roos!! Yes, by all means, share!

Wow.. :D

Someone has offered to give me an Incubator... Dont know what kind it is, but not sure if I am ready for that stage yet....

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Of COURSE you're ready!! You will be great at it! You are very attentive to things and will keep an eye on temps and humidity. Oh, you will have such fun!

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

I agree...JUST DO IT... oh thats NIKE LOL

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

How do I know what eggs to put in there? I mean I have the girls with the RR but how will I know if they are fertile?

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Put as many eggs as you like, get a nice flashlight (an LED one is usually good) and when it's dark (I do it in a closet) candle the eggs. Unless they are very dark shelled, you should be able to see blood veins developing within a week to 10 days. You can do some googling of candling, and there have been several threads on it. I use a pocket size LED flashlight. YOu don't want one that is too big because you want the light shining through the egg, not around the sides. The fertile eggs will develop blood veins and go dark over time with the air cell at the top. The dark is the developing chick. Non-fertile eggs will not develop veining. Sometimes they develop circles that are called blood rings, resulting from bacterial infection, but those are different to the veins.

I think there are candling links in the sticky reference thread.

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

So you put them in the incubator when You collect them and then candle them at 7 to 10 days? If they are not fertile then you throw them out?

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

YUP! You got it! See! You're so ready.....

Sapello, NM(Zone 5b)

You go, girl! Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Fan and wing. Whip and spur. Saddle up and ride.

Can't wait to hear about your next adventure!

Do you think its a boy or girl?

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I think it's a roo... Not positive yet... if it's a pullet, it's a fighter for sure! LOL

Clarkson, KY

Somehow you just gotta cheer for a critter with style like that!! One curl at a time, lolol.

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Absolutely! I will start with the tail curls and work my way up. :D
