Question about these plants...

Fayetteville, NC

STOBILANTHES DYURANUS 'PERSIAN SHIELD' and Hoya (Strawberries and Cream)

These are indoor plants correct? Is there any special care needed for them?

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I know there are people who grow hoyas indoors year-round, but I think strobilanthes is more often grown outdoors and then brought in for the winter in colder zones. I'm not sure how it does as a year-round houseplant--some plants will do best if you have them outdoors during the warmer months. Maybe someone else has experience with it as a houseplant though.

Persian shield does beautifully in Zone 8a Texas if it is "shielded" from the afternoon sun. It doesn't take on the beautiful coloration in too MUCH shade, or certainly in the house. In a greenhouse, yes.

That is fine I planned on having it outside during spring/summer and bring it in for winter. Our fall is usually warm here in NC as well for the most part so will try it outside then. :D Thanks for the info.

If it's possible, I would plant it in the ground and then pot it up next fall if you are going to try to keep it inside over the winter.

(Zone 1)

Down here in the south, Persian Shield is grown as a landscape plant so I'm not sure how well it would do indoors. Here's info in Plant Files for the Persian Shield: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/516/

Hoya's are tropical's and are grown as houseplants in most areas above zone 10. Many folks put them outside in a bright shady place during the warm months and then move them back inside during the winter. Here's the plant files listing for your Hoya Krimson Princess aka Strawberries & Cream: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/57702/
