Is anybody familiar with these shrubs? I saw them last year and loved them, but I read that they attract flies....does anybody have any experience with them?

We had a nice hedge of them a couple of houses ago and I don't remember any problems with flies. They really are pretty and mine grew quite well, but I lost the hedge with an early unexpected cold spell. Many things were damaged at that time, but the Manhattens seemed to show a lot of damage all across town so they may be a little more cold sensitive than other shrubs. We were living in a 6a zone then, but where there were often sudden extremes in weather (western Kansas).

oh boy, and you're a zone warmer than me....I have seen them listed as zone 5 and zone 6, I wondered about that too. Maybe I'll just try one in a mixed shrub bed & see what happens...

i love them ,and i am in zone 5 a. they are problem free for me. evergreen, which i really appreciate come feb and march. easy to root cuttings from too to start new plants. and the climbing types do not harm mature trees if started at the base and allowed to grow on the tree.

many different forms and types to select from.
