That's all that's said. If you look closely, to the left of the tree, you can see two old chunks of cement in the ground. I sort of think that might have been the original, but wasn't readible and broke. But I have no idea really. there were two other headstones nearby, but it wasn't obvious that that "son" headstone belonged with that other family.
Weird weather of '09.......#6
Sis went to a family reunion in PA (with a lot of relatives she found that we never knew we had) and they actually cleaned up a cemetary. It had been neglected for who knows how long. But a lot of family were buried there and they decided to clean it up, took a lot of back breaking work. But many hands got it finished and now it's being taken care of properly.
Hubby just told me that an Indian Chief was supposed to have been buried there.
that's good, that would actually be a lot of work!
Thanks for the picture. That's really interesting! Definitely shows the necessity for the reception hall, since it's clearly a tiny church! You can tell that much work has had to be put into the church to keep it up for all these years.
That was such a great thing that you and your family did Sally. It's amazing how many people are afraid to pull weeds in a cemetary! Definitely back breaking too!
If you look closely in the picture of the cemetary above, the tree that is the most left in the picture, at the base of it is the "son" headstone. It's actually reflecting light better most other things in the picture.
oh wow! Does he know where abouts? I would love to go and hunt for it!!! I don't know why though. hmmm.... it just seems interesting. I'm going to be staying in Saginaw again at the end of March. If the weather is decent, I would have fun hunting for it.

Or does he know what the headstone might say?
He says he thinks it was never marked, hence the question of where it might be.
Red, I need to do a sun chart, but I think it’s full shade to partial shade.
What an interesting story that would be.
O.K. .......dummy here. What's a sun chart? Hi Laura, I assume it's for your new place?
Huh, interesting. I still might have to go snoop around though :-p there's a lot (relatively speaking) of new markers will very old dates on them. And the titles on them were sometimes vague. So either someone is replacing broken markers or they've been taking on the project of identifying older plots. Anyhow, it will be fun for me to look around anyhow.
Here's an example of some newer stuff going on. strangely enough, i didn't notice the new post and new sign with old broken cement below, I went over there because I was admiring someones good taste in planting Chamaecyparis 'Rimplar' (the plant to the right of the sign post) as a memorial plant! lol
I was confused for a second too. I thought 'sun chart, for a cemetary plot??' lol
Yes, that would be a good thing to do Laura! But, there are some tell tale signs of what's hitting where already, so that helps.
But I still don't know what a sun chart is. LOL
Wow, great picture! You are far more organized than I am that you can find pictures that quickly!! It's a goal that I'm currently working on. But, I'm a long ways from being able to find any pictures older that 2 years in less than 10 min.!!!!
When my 2 kids got married, I packed up all of their photos and gave them as a wedding present. Actually, I made a photo album of them from the day they were born. Took away my responsibility of keeping them!!
That's a great way to do it!!!
Sally, it’s when you go out about once an hour between dawn and dusk, draw out where the sun is shining and at the end of the day you’ll more or less know what areas get enough sun for what plants.
O.K. That makes sense, I need to do that for the east side of my house. Not really sure how long the sun shines there. Thank You.
No problem.
rc....this is the link to my sis' roundup. Thought you might want to take a peek.

lol.... those are great Sally!! thanks for sharing the link. Your sisters pond is fantastic, and huge!! I agree with you, it's good to be able to put faces to some of the names that I see on various forums. It looks as though everyone had a great time. That looks as though it was more of a party than a plant event!! lol.
Ok, I need to get some dinner.
What's really funny is those pictures are the best I've seen of her place. LOL And she was wearing the shawl I made her for her birthday, now I know it will be used.
Red, same eating habits as me I see ;O) Just finished a meal.
And I'm thinking about a snack. lol
Definitely Laura! It's sort of one of things things that I get to once everything else is done for the day.
Sally, At least you now know that she really likes the shawl. It's looks great too! you made a really nice shawl!
Morning all, great pics.
Hows the weather, down that away?
Its been snowing here since 7 this morning and still going strong got almost 4"
Nice way to start a Vac. Boo Yoo
Rainy and windy here but not too terribly cold. A good day to hibernate and make soup. And stare at trays thinking the seeds will pop up if you look hard enough!
I keep staring at my seeds, hoping they will plant themselves. Hasn't worked yet.
Thank goodness no snow yet!! you can keep it. ALthough my window is open and the rain is very heavy and sloshy sounding, so it might not be far behind. Unfortunately I have to go to work in it. But, maybe since Eugene is lower it wont be cold enough.
lol.... let me know if that does work Lynn... I'll try it!
Funny, don't stare at them. its like watching a pot of water to boil. I had 2 pots sprout during the night.
Red-say hi to my friends in Eugene-that rainy town!
lol... yep, will do that. It is a Rainy town....but, I'll take the rain over the snow any day!!
Gardener, I'm really sorry about the boat! Glad you know, however, that this just wasn't the right boat for you. I think the name on the boat says something about it, maybe just as much about the name of the owner. The first time we looked at Moonrise, I knew it was going to be our boat because of the name, even though we kept looking at others at first. Go for a boat whose name you feel connected to somehow. That will be the right boat I think.
I love old churches, especially small ones. Maybe it's because my father was a minister and I started out life running around old, small churches.
We had snow this morning and now it's turned to slush and raining. It's really nasty out there do to the rain and runoff.
Neat church. I like the red trim.
